I laugh. "Yup, that's a bad word." I then look at the little girl and smile, trying to make her feel comfortable. Little kids were awesome. "Who are you?"

Flora sighs and says, "Kid, look. I've got no family. My dad's dead. If I had a sister, I'm sure I'd know."
"But I was put up for adoption!" Abigaile says stubbornly, her voice wavering with the threat of tears.

I frowned. This wasn't my buisness, really, but I felt bad for Abigaile. "Maybe your dad didn't tell you about her...?" I suggested to Flora.

"My dad was a freaking alcoholic! Of course he wouldn't tell me if I had a sister! I just don't get why any goddess would fall for him."
Abigaile bites her lip and starts slowly walking away, feeling defeated. "It just said that you were my sister in the adoption papers...But if you don't want me, that's okay. Nobody wants me." Her lips start quivering and tears start to roll down her cheeks.

I watch the scene sadly. I wanted to do something to make it all better, but there didn't seem to be anything I could do. I look from Flora to Abigaile.

Flora blinks and says, "What do you mean?"
"The adoption place didn't like me. They were happy to get rid of me. My foster parents hated me. They called me Becky and every time I corrected them they slapped me or acted like I was pretending...But I wasn't."

"Flora just stares at Abigaile for a moment, then says, "Hey, come back here."
Abigaile turns around and looks at Flora, question in her eyes.
"Aren't you going to give your sister a hug?" Flora asks quietly, smiling slightly.
Abigaile grins and runs at Flora, hugging her. For the first time, she feels truly happy, like everything's gonna be alright.

I can't help but smile as I watch the two sisters hug. It was so sweet! "Yay!" I whispered.

Abigaile giggles and loosens her grip on Flora slightly, still grinning.

Flora laughs, smiling more than she has in a long time. 'Now I have someone who will accept me, no matter what. Someone who will love me,' she thinks happily.

I think about everything that Flora told me that happened to her and I smiled, because she really deserved to be happy and find a long lost sister.
