"Hi." I said. I felt slightly intimidated in the girl's sharp stare. I set my bow and arrows on the ground, just to show I wasn't about to start shooting her. "Uh, I'm Camille. I haven't seen you around camp before... Are you new here?"

"Of course you haven't. I've been tracking monsters since I could remember." Artemis kept her stare at the girl, but it wasn't to be threatening anymore. "And may I ask, why are you here? Did you see a Hyperborean giant?"

I raised my eyebrows at her. "Hyperborean giant? Uh, no. I don't see those much around here." I thought for a second. Tracking monsters for as long as she could remember... "Are you a daughter of Artemis?"

Artemis let out a harsh bark of laughter. "Daughter? Daughter. I resemble those daughters of Artemis, don't I? I wonder why."

My eyes widen in shock. "Ohmygods... Are you Artemis?!" that would explain things...

"Of course, dear demigod." Artemis was smirking now. Her bow turned into a sort of walking staff and the arrow wrapped around her wrist into a bracelet. "It would explain why I said I've been hunting monsters since I could remember."

I felt as if I should get down on my knees, bow down to her, and simply say I'm not worthy. Artemis is amazing, she's been one of my heroes forever. "Wow, uh, Lady Artemis. What are you doing here at camp? Are you here with the hunters or something?"

Artemis narrowed her eyes. "I sent them to hunt a small pack of hellhounds in Nevada. I decided to hunt down a few troublesome Hyperborean giants, but the last one simply disappeared-- it got into camp. If somebody killed it before me, I'm going to strangle that person...." She made a strangling motion with her hands.

"I didn't kill it," I assured her. "I can help you find it, if you want my help. I mean, I know the camp forest pretty well."

I run in after being in the forest. It was getting really boring here at camp. My jaw drops and I kneel. "Lady Artemis... what brings you to camp? I thought you were..." I trail off. I was probably being rude or something...

I glanced quickly at the person who just came in, but shrugged and turned back to Artemis, and answered her question. "No. I'm not interested in relationships with guys. There's more interesting things to do in life than that."

I was stunned. Artemis wanted me to join the hunters! I was extremely honored. "So you're saying... I can join the Hunters? I mean... Wow, that would be awesome!" I said. "What do I have to do to join?"

I nod. "That sounds fairly easy." I think for a second. I've said the pledge of allegiance at school before. I could figure it out. "So, I pledge allegiance to the goddess Artemis, I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt." I blinked. Was that it?
