| Angie smiled and approached the server. "Hello, can I get, orange chicken and noodles, please?" Angie looked at the pop machine. "And a Mello Yellow with that." She started to dig through her purse. Her wallet happened to be at the bottom of her purse. She pulled out her debit card and waited for Riley to order. | |

| Riley waited for Angie to order, stepping forward after her and ordering sesame chicken and an iced tea, pulling a twenty out of his pocket and handing it to the server-person. "I'll pay for hers, too," he stated, not bothering to ask for her approval. Most girls nowadays would object, but he wanted to pay for her. Not just because he liked her, or anything like that, but also because she had driven him here and he had impeded upon her shopping trip. He waited, curious to see her reaction. | |

| Angie stopped her rummaging and looked at Riley. "Its fine. Really. I can pay." Angie continued to rummage and eventually, found her wallet. She now searches through the tens of pockets for her debit card. Most of the cards were giftcards. She found a Chapters gift card and cursed herself mentally. | |

| Riley chuckled, watching as Angie sifted through her bag hurriedly. "No, seriously, I got it Angie. You drove me here, and gas costs money, and I've sort of been impeding upon your personal shopping trip, so it's okay," he chuckled. "If you really must, pay me back later, but there's no point standing here and holding up the line when you so obviously can't find your debit card," he chuckled at the last part, mostly because there was no one actually in line. | |

| Angie huffed and ziped up her purse. "Fine." Angie put her purse over her shoulder and waited on her order.

| ((It's okay! xD))
Riley took his change from the server, waiting with Angie in silence. He suddenly felt awkward. He had been a little rude, hadn't he? He considered this, standing with his back against the counter as their orders were made. Finally, he spoke. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, paying." He said this awkwardly, trying to make himself meet her gaze. | |

| Angie smiled out of the corner of her mouth. "It's fine. I just, I usually pay so..." Angie took her food from the server and waited for Riley. | |

| Riley nodded, relieved she wasn't really mad at him or something. He took his own food and grabbed his iced tea with a napkin so none of the condensation from the bottle affected him. It shouldn't have, but it was a possibility and he wasn't going to take a risk. He began to walk over to the tabled areas. | |

| Angie picked up her Mellow Yellow and walked over to a table. She took the fork out of its plastic wrapping and stuck it into a piece of Orange Chicken. The taste was amazing. | |

| Riley sat down beside Angie, carefully opening up his iced tea with a napkin and taking a sip. It always annoyed him that he had to be so careful not to let water touch him. He almost resented his father for giving him an ability that was not useful in the least, something that he tried so hard to cover up every day. He frowned, sticking his fork in his chicken and taking a bite. | |

| Angie looked up at Riley after taking a bite of her noodles. "What's up with the napkin?" She nodded at the napkin that Riley had been using for almost everything. She took a sip of her Mellow Yellow and licked her lips. Everything tasted so good. | |

| Riley shrugged mid-bite and took his time chewing so he could come up with a quick response. He was used to formulating responses at that point. Everyone always asked a question like this eventually.. why he really didn't want to go out when it was raining, why he never went swimming with them, why he freaked out when they pulled out a water gun. He'd been the brunt of a few jokes among his schoolmates, some of which ended less than enjoyably and some caused him to even need to transfer out. He responded to Angie a few seconds after she asked, after having swallowed his chicken. "I don't like the cold of the drink, it makes my hand numb. Stupid, I know." He flushed slightly, embarrassed at his lame response and how it made him look. He took another bite of his chicken.

| Angie nodded while chewing. "Well, that's understandable." Angie took another bite of orange chicken. It seemed hard to start small talk right now. "So, do you like camp?" | |

| Riley listened to her, grateful that she had dropped the subject. He took another sip of his iced tea before speaking, glad to have a subject change. "I do like camp a lot, actually, though sometimes I miss home. But I usually go back for holidays, so it's not so bad." He moved some of his food around on his plate as he spoke. "What about you?" | |

| "Well," Angie took another drink. "I left camp around a year ago. But, then Chiron called me back to help with training and teaching newbies. But, I also have an apartment here in the city." | |

| Riley Peterson Riley nodded, deciding he was full and placing his fork back down onto his plate. "In New York City? You're allowed to own an apartment if you're not 18?" he looked at her, confused. "But that's cool, I guess. My mom lives in North Carolina with her husband, so it's hard for me to go home. I'm pretty much stuck here in camp unless it's a holiday or something. It's too unsafe for me to stay home full time, so..." | |

| "Well, technically, its under my dads name but, I pay rent." Angie ate the remains of her orange chicken, savoring the amazing taste. She took a bite of her noodles and a sip of Mellow Yellow. | |

| Riley Peterson Riley took another sip of his iced tea before he spoke. "That's cool, though. My mom probably wouldn't trust me." He chuckled at the thought. It wasn't that his mom didn't trust him, but she would say that he was too young and secretly worry that he would trash the place or something. Plus, there was the fact that she would force him to go to school, and he really didn't want to do that. | |

| Angie finished off her Mellow Yellow and took another bite of her noodles. She smiled at riley's comment. "Now, what reason would she have not to trust you?" Angie ate the rest of her noodles. | |

| Riley Peterson "Oh, she'd find plenty. Not that I'm a bad kid or anything, I've just made some... uh... mistakes in the past." He flushed slightly, the words having come out so quickly. When his mother had married his stepfather, he'd done all sorts of crap... thrown a huge house party when they went away for the weekend, experimented with drinking (that hadn't ended well), shaved half of his hair (under the influence of the previously mentioned alcohol). These were things that he wasn't really proud of, and he'd never want to admit to a girl like Angie. She would be horrified to think he'd ever done anything of the sort, probably. He had just been so frustrated about everything, not only the fact that his mom had married a cynical guy who didn't like him very much, but also the "power" that his real father had given him, something he had to cover up every day of his life. He had since gotten over the quick phase, it had happened over two or three years ago, his mom has mostly forgiven him for it, but it embarrassed him to think he had ever done such a thing. He took a sip of his iced tea to cover up his discomfort. | |
