Time for Your Checkup!

Thomas walked into the infirmary, led by Opal. Bloodwing squaked and flew to a perch from an IV stand, and looked at Opal with a hint of Suspicion.

Opal walked into the infirmary next to Thomas. "So, I'll just have an Apollo kid check you out, okay?" Opal walked off to find an Apollo child somewhere in the mess of cots, sheets and medical equipment. She walked up behind who she thought to be one and tapped their shoulder. "Hello, can you do a check up on my friend here?"

Thomas sat in a chair, his sword in his lap. that was a huge sword even for an adult, yet Thomas seemed able to handle it well. Bloodwing looked at all things, surveying.

Thomas was feeling awkward at the Checkup, and was glad when it was over. "Hey, um... you ok?"

Thomas started thinking, about his travels, the things he did, and witnessed, and then realized his mistake... he slumped back in his chair as he passed out, visions of his family's corpses filling his head, the demon that killed him, daring him to face him....

Opal ran back to Thomas. Was he passed out? Opal wasn't sure if he was dead or passed out. She checked for a pulse. Yes! He was alive. "Help!" She yelled. Three people came rushing over. The picked Thomas up and layed him down in a cot. Opal sat in a chair next to Thomas, as the three healers started to feed him Ambrosia and inject nectar into him.

Thomas bolted upright, screaming "NO!" Bloodwing sqauked, and flew off.

Thomas sat in his chair, virtually dripping sweat. the images of his detroyed family filled in his head. He was hyperventilating. eventually, he stated to calm down. he looked at a panicked Kenzie, then started to feel sorry. "did I startle you? sorry." Thomas took a shaky breath. "i was remembering... my family being killed..."

Opal nodded, still a bit on edge. "It's fine." She stood up and bit her lip. The kids were no longer leaning over Thomas with scared faces. They stood back a few feet, still scared. Opal played with the zipper on her hoodie. "You alright?"

"Me?" Thomas forced a laugh. "Oh, I'm fine. I am perfectly ok for seeing flashbacks of my family's destruction and demise at the hands of some huge demonic... blugh!" this last bit was Thomas trying to express frustration.

Thomas realized that he made Opal nervous. "Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

thomas sighed tiredly. "only when I start to rest, relax, get comfortable, or think about the past." Thomas felt useless. He was a liability like this!

Thomas managed a weak chuckle. "To say the least, yeah, it does."

Thomas almost shook his head at Opal, but managed a weak nod. "Yeah... I'm not. er, I'm... never mind. I'm just sad."

Thomas managed a weak laugh. "I don't know, I don't think anyone can..."

Thomas took a shaky breath, and wondered whether or not the seventeen year old son of Hermes should try it. he took the plunge. "my family was killed by a demon right in front of me." Tears fell down his face. "i've never told anyone this before..."
