Veronica "Ronnie" Langley (Complete) 2012-beautiful-beauty-everything-eyes-Favim.com-428327
Veronica [ronnie] Evanthe Langley
Every lesson forms a new scar, they never thought you'd make it this far.

    Gender:
As if it weren't painstakingly obvious, I'll let you know that Ronnie is a girl. True statement.

    Age:
Ronnie is currently sixteen years old, to turn seventeen on October 2nd, 2012.

    God and mortal parent:
Ronnie's mother is Aglaea, greek charity, goddess of beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence and adornment. Her father, Evan Langley, was in the US navy, and Ronnie was forced to travel with him a lot in her childhood. He was said to be killed, however, in the rebel attack that took Ronnie into slavery when she was only nine years old. She has a stepmother, Amy Ross, who is still alive and well and back to living in Massachusetts where she and Evan originally came from.

    Physical Description:
To be particularly blatant, Veronica is a very pretty girl, and her looks saved her more than once in her past, though they have also caused destruction on her part. Veronica is rather tall for a girl, standing at five feet and eight inches, and she has a long, lean figure, like a model, with very little muscle. Even though she became pregnant at one point you would never know that she had had a kid, being that she didn't gain much during the pregnancy and lost most of her excess weight soon afterwards.

She has smooth, olive toned skin, and her face is always relatively clear. Her facial features are rather dainty, with piercing, deep set blue eyes that draw you in as she speaks. Her hair was once long, almost down to her butt, but when she came to America she became frustrated and tired of her old appearance and traded her long locks for a shorter, more choppy look that just brushed her shoulder blades.

Though you would never expect it just by looking at her, Ronnie went through a stage wherein she was angry at the world and rebelled a bit against her morals, which resulted in her going to get a few different piercings/tattoos. She has 2 holes in her earlobe, though she barely ever wears earrings, and she has a very small gold hoop in the cartilage of her right ear that she never takes out. She also received a small script tattoo of her daughter's name, or rather the name she gave her daughter, Rose, on her shoulder blade, which is only really visible when she wears a sleeveless top or bathing suit.

The only other tattoo she has is a branding she was given during her time with the rebels, a serial number that marked her as their territory on the inside of her left wrist, just beneath her palm. It was meant to be hidden when she became their so-called royalty, but she would purposely flaunt it against their wishes.

    Personality Description:
Having gone through everything that she did, Ronnie's personality is deeply influenced by her life experiences and the way she was brought up. First off, she is extremely strong at heart, as she has overcome many hardships and obstacles throughout her lifetime. She does not take things that people say lightly, and tends to question them a bit and has small issues with trust due to the fact that she found she couldn't really trust anyone when she was enslaved by the rebels. She was enslaved and ultimately elected to marry the dictator's son, making her some sort of princess, but their relationship was not a good one, as she was abused and taken advantage of by said prince, and for this reason she is a bit apprehensive about engaging in any sort of romantic relations. The only reason her trust issues are not worse than they are is because she was forced to put trust in other rebel slaves in order to escape from her position on the island, which will be discussed in further detail later on.

Despite her trust issues, Ronnie can be extremely charismatic and diplomatic, and she makes friends fairly easily. Most people find it difficult to dislike her until they get to know her better. At first appearance she is a pretty, friendly teenager, unless of course she's trying to stay under the radar, which she's not very good at, especially since she is so tall and striking looking. With her charisma comes her ability to act well, and a cunning, which she was forced to learn when she was enslaved and eventually put into power by the rebel people. She needed to act pleased with her position in order to survive, and she did it very well, and ended up very well liked by the people, albeit mostly the slaves, of the island. While she acted in a gracious manner, in the background she was very rebellious, and to this day she hates to feel chained in by any one space, or any one person unless it is someone she absolutely trusts.

Overall, Ronnie is an extremely headstrong, leaderly individual.

    Flaws:
While many of Ronnie's flaws were highlighted in the personality description, I will list off a few specific flaws here.
    • Ronnie feels immense guilt at times over the loss of her daughter, Rose, who she was forced to give up for adoption when she was born due to her incapability to care for the child.
    • Ronnie can sometimes be very rebellious and put herself in harm's way because of this.
    • Ronnie occasionally has issues with trusting people due to her troubled past, and is scared of allowing herself to be romantic with someone else.
    • Ronnie once resorted to minor self-harm in her frustration at one of her darkest points, and sometimes fears she would do it again, though this is not likely.
    • Ronnie has been absolutely petrified of boats ever since hers was ravaged by the rebels.
    • Ronnie sometimes has difficulties when she sees people who are injured, because it triggers bad memories for her.
    • Ronnie isn't the strongest fighter, due to her minimal training, though she holds her own most of the time.
    • Ronnie sometimes takes too much time to evaluate a situation before taking action.

    Powers:
Since Ronnie's mother is such a minor goddess with little power, she inherited no special divine abilities.

    Weapon:
Due to the fact that she has been exposed to many types of weaponry as a young girl, Ronnie doesn't really have a weapon of preference, she mainly just fights with whatever she has on hand. She is mainly skilled with swords, daggers and bows with arrows, but she can find a way to use most weapons, and objects as tool and weapons. When she uses these weapons, however, she has a more difficult time in battle than when she can fight with a normal sword or bow, so she tries to keep something she's comfortable with on her at all times.

    Talents/Skills:
Ronnie has a few learned skills, most of them she has because she was forced to learn them. She is good at cooking and cleaning, and she is also very book smart. She has a pretty voice and would sing for the dictator, though this was rare she hardly ever utilized this talent. She picked up fighting at Camp Half Blood relatively quickly because of her experience handling the weaponry, and she has many leadership qualities.

    Biography:
(Warning, this gets a smidge graphic in one paragraph, which will be starred. It is nothing too bad, but it could be a trigger for victims of abuse and rape. Just figured it was necessary to put that out there.)

Veronica Evanthe Langley was born, or rather originated since her mother was a goddess, in Carlisle, Massachusetts, her father's hometown. When she was conceived, her father was only a young, 23 year old military trainee, Even Langley, who fell in love with her mother due to her immense grace and beauty. He was very confused as to what he was supposed to do with an infant, especially since he was engaged to his best friend and the love of his life, Amy Ross. He quickly explained to her that this girl was the daughter of his previous girlfriend, and that this girl was unfit to care for her, and Amy accepted the child into their family after a bit of hesitation. The two married, and quickly became a full out military family, which was eventually led to their world spiraling downwards into a pit of despair.

The Langley family moved around very often to be near the various naval bases where Evan would work, and Amy would try to find small jobs whenever she could to bring more income into the family. Ronnie was raised pretty much as a normal child would be, even though they moved around so much, and developed a close relationship with both her father and her stepmother. Nothing truly eventful happened to her until she turned nine years old and her father was to relocate to a certain naval base near the northeast coast of Africa to intervene with some rebellious attack in the region, when the family was flown to Africa and then forced to take a boat to get to the private base where they would be staying for the time being. Their boat, however, was invaded by an extremist group of rebels who destroyed much, killing and maiming many people while they took others as slaves, mostly children. Another naval ship arrived swiftly, but for Ronnie it was too late, she had already been captured and gagged, forced onto the rebel's own boat, unaware of the state in which her parents had been left, though she prayed with all her might that they had been rescued.

The rebels transported her and the other enslaved victims to their own, uncharted island far off the coast of any society, and she could only be grateful that she wasn't as injured as some of the other captives. She had sustained only a few minor scratches and bumps, while others had broken bones or, at worst, missing limbs. Once they arrived on the island she was forced into a cramped, unsanitary living quarters and branded with a serial number that distinguished her from the rest of the slaves, and there were many more than she had anticipated. The enslaved citizens were given little food, while the other people of the island lived the high life with luxury food- obviously stolen from the mainland, and a decent shelter, the highest being the island's dictator, his wife, and his sole son.

As if it weren't obvious, Ronnie's time on the island was not pleasant, and she was forced to complete laborious tasks daily and provided little time for sleep and leisure. She attempted to remain dignified and quiet, as she had seen what had happened to some who had not, and because of this she made it far. The villagers in charge of ruling the slaves took a particular liking to her for her beauty and quiet demeanor, so they decided she wasn't fit for her brutal job and would sneak her extra rations and eventually allowed her to perform less intensive jobs, such as waiting on the dictator and the other high officials of the island. Still, life was difficult and she longed to return home, wherever that was at this point. The people who ran the island were completely awful and she hated her time there, though she couldn't rebel no matter how much she wanted to. She was far too young for people to follow her example, and she'd likely be severely punished or even executed.

During the time she was forced to wait on the dictator's family, she developed a bit of a relationship with his son, Samuel. He was only a few years older than Ronnie, and he didn't seem that bad, especially being the son of his horrible father. They would joke, even though they weren't supposed to, and sometimes even chat, though Ronnie never let on how bad off she and the other slaves were for fear of punishment. He took a liking to her, and though they weren't close friends, he recognized her charm and strong quality. His father became ill with a mysterious when Ronnie was about fourteen years old, and Samuel about seventeen, and he passed away quickly, forcing Samuel to take over the dictatorship. He wasn't fully prepared, but he learned quickly from the high officials and his mother expected him to take a wife.

Samuel called in the high official's daughters, but he was dismayed to find that there were very few of them and none of them were particularly suitable, and came to the realization that Veronica, as he called her, would be perfect for the job. He informed his mother of this and formally proposed this idea to her, and since she really had no choice but to say yes, she did, though the idea frightened her and the last thing that she wanted to do was to become the wife of the dictator of this disgusting, corrupted island that had quickly taken everything away from her. Adding to the matter the fact that Samuel had changed a bit with his new power and knowledge of the island's state, she was extremely apprehensive about the whole predicament, but she prayed for the best.

Ronnie wasn't very lucky, as usual. Samuel acted normal, even romantic, towards her at first, and he seemed better than his father at ruling the people, and she began to have hope, and maybe even put a bit of trust in him. He promised her that he would make things better for his people when they talked in secret, and this comforted her. Maybe one day he would see that what he was brought into was wrong, horrible.

*But then everything went wrong. Samuel had daily meetings with his cohorts, and every day he drew a bit distant to her, even while their relationship became more and more romantic. Ronnie started to believe that maybe she could love him, even though she was so young and he wasn't supposed to be good. She was naive, and didn't notice the slight changes in him until it was too late. It was a week before she was to be wed to Samuel, and he drew her into a chamber in the dictator's shelter after a long meeting with his cohorts. He seemed angry, frustrated, even, and she tried to ask him why but he just started kissing her, and kissing her, and he didn't stop. She tried to pull away, tasting the bitter alcohol on his breath. She tried to tell him she was uncomfortable, but he was stronger than her and he mostly ignored her protests, stopping once or twice to try and talk her out of her nervousness. To say this in the mildest way possible, he ended up taking advantage of her that night.*

Ravaged and frightened, Ronnie stayed in her quarters in the dictator's shelter for two days straight, refusing to leave unless she was forced to. Samuel would come in occasionally and try to talk some sense into her, but his presence terrified her and caused her to go into states of panic. She was able to comprehend the fact that he did feel some sort of remorse for what he had did, that was was drunk, but she still couldn't get past what he had done to her. He would give up and leave, though he would always come back a few hours later. She didn't care. She remained listless for almost three days before another slave came into her quarters to tend to her and talked her through her horror, explaining that if she wasn't going to recover that they could punish her and leave her in a worse state. The slave offered to assist Ronnie in escape, seeing as this slave dealt with incoming shipments of goods to the island, and told her that she could get her on a late night boat by disguising herself in a box of cargo. It had been successful before, though there weren't many people who were able to pull it off without the cooperation of someone who worked with the cargo. Ronnie reluctantly agreed, willing to do anything to get off the dreaded island. She forced herself to remain strong, to feign recovery and go about her daily routine. Samuel did not try to hurt her again, however the two were very distant. He tried to apologize to her once more, and Ronnie forced herself to quietly accept it though she could barely look him in the eye.

The night before she was to be married to Samuel, the slave from a few nights before came for her in the mdidle of the night. She had packed a small sack of her meager belongings, some stale bread and a few flasks of water, and she was off, hidden in a crate of cargo all by herself. The ship arrived on the mainland, in Cairo, Egypt, for supplies, and Ronnie managed to make her way out. She didn't look particularly out of place, stealing some clothes off of an empty house's clothesline out of desperation and making her way through the city to the closest US embassy, where she explained her predicament and was taken in quickly. The people of the United States knew of her disappearance, and it took about a month for it to become possible, but soon she was on the next plane back to the capitol. Her story was covered up from the media, so as not to cause alarm over such an island existing, but she was told that the FBI were investigating the situation. She struggled to explain the island's location, but she really didn't know, so nothing really came of her return. The island still existed, and soon she found out something even more alarming while in the custody of the States... she was pregnant with Samuel's child.

After about a month in the custody of the states and being forced to stay with foster parents, and lots of investigating on her own part, Ronnie located her stepmother, Amy, and gave her a call. She was completely flabbergasted to hear from her, and took her in with open arms after lots of government paperwork.

Ronnie moved back to Massachusetts, now fifteen, to be with her stepmother, and she became more and more pregnant as the months went on. Amy seemed troubled by this fact, but she didn't prod Ronnie, who gave her the least amount of details necessary about her time with the rebel group, and Ronnie was grateful she didn't. Amy tried to convince her to go to high school, but Ronnie was far too embarrassed to do so but agreed to be home-schooled for the time being. Amy also offered her the option of aborting her pregnancy, but Ronnie refused at the first mention of the idea. She knew she couldn't do that, even if she did hate the idea of being pregnant at fifteen. She hadn't been given a good chance at life when she was thrown into her predicament, and she couldn't refuse her own child, a daughter, her own chance. She went to therapy and lived pretty normally, though she remained very affected by her past experiences, and delivered a healthy baby in August of 2011, when she was still fifteen.

It soon became evident that she couldn't care for the child, being that Amy had insufficient funding and Ronnie would need to return to school, and Amy believed that it was in the child's best interest to put her up for adoption, and after a lot of convincing, Ronnie agreed with her and put the baby, Rose, up after a little over a week. After this, Amy explained to Ronnie that her father had told her a secret about her... she was a demigod, the daughter of a goddess, and that when the time was right she could go to a camp called Camp Half Blood where she would be trained and prepared for the real world. Ronnie insisted that she didn't want to go, that she wanted to go to high school, and she did, but she went through a phase where she was depressed and rebellious, regretting the fact that she gave up her daughter and still affected by her past. Amy couldn't deal with it any longer, so she sent Ronnie to more therapy sessions. Ronnie was lifted from her rough spot and became a whole different person, though she was still affected by her past quite a lot. Amy still decided to send her to Camp Half Blood the following summer, though, and she remains there currently, unsure as to whether or not she will return home for the fall.
