The Cabin's Courtyard - Page 12 Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Cabin's Courtyard   The Cabin's Courtyard - Page 12 Icon_minitime6/13/2013, 10:53 pm

carter's face was an expressionless mask, but she was annoyed. great. the first person she talked to seemed to be shy. how did a shy daughter of phobos — the god of freakin' fear — work, anyway? she pushed some of her hair out of her face, biting her lower lip. "so . . . what are you doing in the courtyard?" she inquired, hoping that the question didn't sound stupid or nosey or anything like that. even though that most of the time, she didn't seem like it, she cared about what other people thought of her. as she waited for an answer, she shifted her weight from foot to foot while she planned the conversation as best as she could without the ability to see into the future. every now and then, she glanced around the courtyard, debating on whether or not to walk away and find someone else to chat to. it probably wasn't the politest thing to do, but talking with someone who seemed like they didn't want to was not fun.

after a few minutes of debating, carter had made her decision. she mumbled a quick "gotta go, bye" and scampered out of the cabins' courtyard, not pausing to think about the other girl's feelings. she didn't want to guilt-trip herself into going back and apologising awkwardly.

"Well just getting out of my cabin. I can't stay cooped up in there everyday," I reply noticing her frustration. Maybe if I wasn't so shy I'd be able to hold a conversation easier. Well shy and calm is better than creepy and violent. "So what are you doing here?" I ask trying to keep the conversation going. I suck at this I am not a poeple person.

Felix walked into the courtyard, followed immediately by Krystine. A chilly night breeze blew through the area, sending a shiver down his back. He glanced around the cabins, all of them were quiet and inactive. The obvious answer was that everyone who wanted to sleep, went to sleep, and those who were still awake had gone elsewhere. He sighed quietly, giving Krystine's had a gentle squeeze.

It wasn't that long of a trip from the mess hall to the courtyard, but by the time they got there, Krystine was actually sleepy. Reviewing notes could wait for tomorrow, it was bedtime for now. She wanted to give Felix a kiss on the cheek or something before she went off to her cabin, and had already gotten on tiptoe before realizing, again, that there was absolutely no way she could reach his face. Gods damn it.

Felix noticed that Krystine was now on her tiptoes, and it seemed like their height difference was causing her some trouble. He found it sort of humorous, but he didn't want to tease her anymore, he'd probably get punched if he did so. So he just simply leaned down and planted a brief kiss on her nose. Cue the silly romantics again, brought to you by two sleep demi-gods.

Krystine flushed yet again. That was too cute to be... Krystine couldn't think of a word, but, basically, it was incredible amounts of adorable. "Hng, well, goodnight, then," she said with a half-smile, and squeezed Felix's hand before letting go and walking off towards her cabin. When she got to the door she turned back to smile at him again before going inside.

Felix smiled as he watched Krystine make her way over to her cabin door, smile at him once more, and then go into her cabin. The smile on his face lingered for a solid minute, and he stood there in silence for that entire minute. Once the smile faded, he turned and promptly made his way towards the arena. His hands were shoved deep into his pockets and his face was fixed into a aggressive frown. He wanted to clear his mind, and by his logic stabbing a dummy senseless would definitely do that job.

Li-Mei walked into the courtyard with a still-unconscious Caspian in her arms, and had so far successfully avoided getting blood or vomit on herself. Now, if she sat him down in the middle of everything, he'd likely be robbed or murdered for no good reason. So she walked behind one of the cabins, one surrounded by a very flowery perfume smell, and sat him down under the shade of a tree. There, problem solved. Hopefully she'd never see him again.
Anyways, she walked down the line of cabins towards the Minor War Gods one, went inside, grabbed her bronze knuckles out of her truck and had a drink of nice, cold water. Much better. Her upper arms were feeling the results of carrying at least over a hundred pounds over a mile or so, so she had better lay off punching things too hard later if she didn't want to feel sore. She left the cabin and headed off for the arena.

Ezrah was boredly walking around the Cabins, having nothing to do. Before, he might have run around killing innocent demigods, but he had to be better than that. He had to do something good with his life if he was to see Hotaru again. It couldn't be anything minor, because he could always be judged on the fact that he made the change for the selfish reason of seing Hotaru. No, he had ro actually change and end up better than before. He had to far outweigh his negative actions with positive ones. Save more lives than he'd taken. However, his moral compass wasn't perfect and he always had to think through what he was doing. He had to do this for a while when he stumbled upon what was like a rejected Aphrodite camper.

The boy was obviously deposited here after some fight. He had puke around his mouth, slightly dried, and a bit of an imprint on his shirt, as if someone had punched him hard enough to tear or fold his clothing. Ezrah assumed that was what had caused the puking. There was also a blood spot near his crotch, which very well may have been caused by him being kicked in the groin. Given the evident severity of the stomach blow, Ezrah reasoned this was not a simpel blow. The force and pain probably knocked this boy unconcscious.

Now, the tricky part. Ezrah could not, through actiom or inaction, let someone die. This guy was injured, but he would survive. Ezrah also did not know why the guy had been attacked in the first place. He could have been asking for it. Better for him to sit here and face his consequences. Ultimately, though... Ezrah figured he could put him in the infirmary and give him sone nectar. Good enough. He lightly touched the boy,'s shoukder and shadowtravelled to the infirmary.

Nisha's hand felt small in Malev's as they walked onto the familiar grounds of the courtyard. The last time she'd been here it had smelt of salt and earth and warm strawberries in the hot afternoon sun. It had smelt of sunshine and sweat and smoke. Now, it was dulled. The sky darker, the grass less vibrant. All she smelled was freshly cut grass, and she yearned for the sweeter scents she'd once taken advantage of. The tall brunette sighed, leaned against her fiancee.

Malev held Nisha's hand in his. He, too, was thinking of how differently things smelled as a human conpared to a vampire. He remembered the thing that he smelled for most often when he was a vampire, that dampened out alk other smells; Nisha's scent. He had no words for it now, but there was no smell he had prefered over it. Malev was heading straight for the cabin, not wanting to waste any time at all in finding Jane.

Speaking of Jane... the now fourteen-year-old came hurtling into the courtyard, breathing heavily, looking over her shoulder. If the guy back there managed to fire an arrow, she was done for. So she was running erratically, taking sharp, unpredictable turns, dodging behind trees and cabin corners when she could. There was a small knife in a wrist sheath on her left arm, not that it would be of much use. She'd only been practicing with it a year, and though her skills were passable, there was no way she could take on those two by herself...
She whipped around the corner the second she emerged from behind the Other Gods cabin, straight into a couple of stupid campers... campers... campers?! OH, GODS, NO.

They were so close. Just about... thirty... twenty-five... twenty feet behind the wretched creature. Zero's head hurt so badly. They were so damn close to avenging her adoptive sister, but the brat wouldn't run in a straight line. Zero had lost her throwing weapons long ago, and she couldn't exactly throw a sword with accuracy, so if they couldn't catch up, it was up to Daz to shoot her down. Zero's breathing was heavy, but she kept her pace up. She couldn't slow down now, especially if the brat was getting tired. She lost sight of the girl behind the Other Gods cabin, and assumed she'd turned left...

Daz was, of course, right next to Zero, with his bow ready to be drawn. As soon as he saw the girl again, he woukd fire a hopefully nonlethal blow to incapacitate her. He saw this as more of a hunt than an actual revenge mission; he was just helping Zero, even though he did feel a bit of the anger towards the girl, based on Zero's story. He also thought the girk coukd give him information on whoever her "parents" were, who they were also searching for. When Zero went one way around the cabin, Daz went the other way, assuming thagt there would only be one person to shoot.

Malev and Nisha were walking up to the cabin when a little girl pliwed in to them. Malev wasn't pating attention and fell over. He started to oicj himself uo when he saw who the girl was and almost fell oger again. "Jane?!" He exclaimed, and was going to hug her, but then two peopke appeared on each side of the cabin, one with a bow, both looking very angry... anr Malev was pretty confident he recognised them, and only for bad reasons.

Nisha felt her heart stop. Jane. Jane, Jane, Jane, she was alive! Her eyes lit up and widened. "Jane! Jane-" But wait. Was that- oh. Oh gods. Nisha vaguely remembered them. Jane had eaten her sister, right? If they were after her- damn. Nisha turned to Malev, a look of desperation crossing her face. "We have to help!"

Jane scowled and scrambled back to her feet after falling on her dear dad. Should she stab him? No, that would probably weaken him for the upcoming fight. And besides, if she tried to kill him, he probably wouldn't help her out. And neither would Nisha. So Jane settled for not stabbing. For now.

Zero skidded to a stop once she realized that the monster was mixed up with innocent ca- no, not innocent campers. More culprits. She drew her two swords -- thankfully, she still had those -- and charged right in, hoping to take someone by surprise. She swung them both at the small villain, both strikes coming from the right and arcing left.

Daz really didn't like to see Zero like this, but figured these guys deserved some kind of punishment for eating people, so he swapped out his bow for his sword and charged in after her. Well, technically, towards her, since they were facing opposite ways. He slashed at the older girl, hoping to divide the three of them. Hs cut was horizontal, aimed at the girl's midrif.

Malev was focusing on protecting Jane, s his instinct was to draw his sword and deflect the two incoming sword strikes. He did this with a quick overhead slash, knocking the two blades to the side of their intended target, Jane. He tried to quicly think of what spell woukd be the most effective, given the situation. He quickly blurted out "Argos!" towards the girl... some number name, he thought. Hopefully that would help to keep her from being so fast. As it was, Malev's sword felt a but heavier in hisbown hand from the power drain.

Nisha clumsily jumped back, adrenaline pumping through her body, but everything was slow. Her movements felt sluggish, her mind couldn't computer the knowledge at a fast enough rate. She grabbed her preferred weapon, a celestial bronze sword she'd picked up in Greece from a son of Hephaestus, and slashed at his arm. She wasn't good with sword-fighting yet though - passable, but not good. Why hadn't she practiced more?

Zero's swords were knocked down, but they still traveled at a shallow angle towards Jane's shins. Jane promptly jumped over them, and drew her knife. This was it. Fight or flight, she'd been forced into fight. The one guy shouted a word, and suddenly the world was sluggish and warped. Why wasn't she moving faster? She felt an angry growl begin in her throat, but it escaped so low and slowly that no one could hear it but her. Wait, what was the brat do- Jane approached her pursuer with a quick step, and a quick stab right in the gut. Yes, that should do nicely.

Daz continued his swing, changing directions, and blocked the girl's blow quite easily, with barely a fkick of his wrist. She was not a very good swords- NO, WHAT? Inbhis periphery, Daz saw Zero moving far too slowly, and then she got stabbed in the gut. No, no, NO. He belkowed in rage and ran straight around the stupid people he'd been attacking, and held his sword out at the littke girl who'd done the stabbing. "Let her go or you will die." He said. He knew that wound was bad, and he had to get Zero out of there quickly.

Malev was Jane do it, but couldn't really believe it. She had always been so innocent. Did he make her what she was? Would she still be innocent if he'd left her alone? He had a feeling this was so. While he did notboppose violence, he couldn't stand thisbapparent heartlessness that Jane was operating under. Not when he conpared it to what she used to be. So he said, "Jane, let her go."

Nisha watched in startled confusion as Jane stabbed someone. She'd seen Jane feed before, and she hadn't cared about the humans, really, but this? This was... different. What had happened? "Jane, come on, let her go." Nisha doubted their chances of survival if she didn't.

"Hmmmmmm?" Jane made a very sing-songy noise, and wiggled the knife around in the girl's tummy a bit. (Ow.) "Put your sword down, first. You'll just cut me u-" mid-sentence, she changed her mind and ran for it, pulling the knife out of her unfortunate opponent at a cruel angle. The direction she absconded in hopefully prevented the big dude from immediately slashing at her, since she'd gone the way she'd come and darted behind her victim as soon as she'd moved. So, really, if he wanted to slice her head off, he'd just as likely slash his little girlfriend up.

Pain... pain in her head and pain in her stomach, but now she was unfrozen. She pressed a hand to the wound to try and stem the bleeding. She needed medical attention. Quickly.

Daz glared at the girl as she ran away. His sword dematerialized and he ran over to Zero, picking her up gently but quickly, and started jogging towards the infirmary. They found the girl's trail so quickly that day that he had not had time to pack ambrosia or neftar, so he had to get her to the infirmary as quickly as possible. It was good that he'd been a long distance runner his whole life.

Malev watched Jane run off. He honestly wasn't syre if he wanted to follow her, so he looked at Nisha for her input. Thus was all just oo much to take in at once. Was it his fault? Was she like this with everyone? Was she a murderer now? Malev coukd understand killing people. He enjoyed it. But he didn't want to turn someone into a killer; that just wasn't right. It just... felt wrong.

Jane was completely out of there, gone who knew where, and Zero managed not to cough blood up on Daz while she was being carried away from danger. She felt damn useless, getting stabbed like that right off the bat.

Nisha just stood in a kind of trance, eyes following Jane until she couldn't see her anymore. "Did... did that just happen?" The ex-vampire asked, turning around with wide eyes. She absently reached for Malev's hand, trying to figure out what she'd seen. Jane- Jane didn't torture people. The only one who really liked killing was Malev, Jane was the innocent one, so why...?

Malev stared at where he'd seen Jane last. She was older, and bigger, obviously. But... she wasn't the same little girl anymore. You didn't look at her and think Awww, how cute or question her innocence. No, it wasn't technically directly his or Nisha's fault. Jane had turned into that killer type from those two that were hunting her. What if they'd been doing that for a whole year? How had Jane managed to survive? And then it came full circle. She wouldn't have had to deal with them alone if Malev and Nisha had been there. Malev wrapped his arms around his fiancé and held her tight, not wanting to speak his thoughts. Mahbe if he didn't say them they'd be less true.
