Time for some "whupping" {Anime Zoe Immortalington}

Emery tensed, her green eyes flashing around as she reached for her dagger, it had been strapped to her leg and hidden under her shorts. Her muscles in her back rippled ever so slightly as if preparing for something, causing Emery to wince.

The creature had low, huffing breaths, and a heavy walk like it was carrying a great burden. Emery saw it before James did, a massive creature with six eyes and pointed fangs.


“Cerberus…” Emery breathed, wondering briefly how and why he had escaped from the underworld. Almost immediately she wished for several large squeaky toys. That way they might escape. The three headed dog sniffed the air and one licked his chops.

James' eyes widened slightly at first sight of the monstrosity,  betraying his fear and surprise. Knuckles white, gripping the short blade, he grimaced upon hearing Emery speak the name aloud.

He moved his feet to the position Emery had shown him earlier,  though he doubted it would do much good;  if it came down to a fight,  he was screwed.

Aero's talons dug slightly into James' shoulder.  Without looking at her, he spoke to Emery, "A friend of yours, , I hope? If not, you wouldn't happen to have a plan, would you?"

“Nope, no plan!” The last part came out as a sort of gasp of pain as her bones seemed to crackle. The dog heads lunged towards them and Emery seized James around the waist and then they were up in the air, Emery’s wings beating powerfully to keep them aloft.


The massive Greek dog growled, tail lashing back and forth. Then it jumped, teeth snapping shut on air. Panting Emery aimed to land on a branch, draping him carefully over the branch taking care to make sure he wouldn’t fall over.

James yelled out in absolute terror. He had few fears, falling being one of them. He collapsed onto the branch, clutching his chest. He closed his eyes to prevent hyperventilation. Opening them slowly, he realized two things simultaneously: Emery was in pain, and she had wings. 

Deciding to deal with the first one now, he reached out and grabbed her shoulder. Willing his powers to work, his eyes began to glow slightly as her pain, should, have receded. Twinging as he received a fraction of it, he sighed and looked up at the sky. "I'm a little out of the fashion world right now; are wings a trend?" 

The beast stalked the ground beneath them, snarling deep in its throat.

Emery watched as the three headed dog growled and paced below, tail lashing and teeth bared. James panicked next to her, clutching the branch and finally opening his eyes to take Emery in. This was the worst part, people’s reactions to her wings. 


“Uh no, no fashion.” Emery looked back down at the ground and only then did she realize that his hand was on her shoulder. “What are you doing?”

Without waiting for an answer she shook his hand off and stood on the branch, eyeing the dog below. The creatures red eyes looked up at her, tail wiggling with the prospect of a good hunt. Sliding her dagger out of her boot, she held it in her left hand while her right sprouted claws. As a result of the claws, blood rolled down her finger tips.

“This is quite the pickle….”

James was aware of what was happening below him solely by sound, as his eyes were fixed firmly on a point above him. It would do no one,  Cerberus excluded, any good for him to get vertigo and fall out of the tree in a manner similar to a baby bird that didn't take its mother's teachings to heart.In essence,  he was useless in this situation; dammit, why did he have to be affected by a fear most people lose after infant-hood?

Though he could not directly help her, James wished Emerson the best of luck.
