I nod. "My parents.... eh. I mean, I loved my mom, but she was never around. My stepdad.... not the greatest person. He wasn't really around either, but..." I trail off. "Not that my life wasn't ok."

"Eh, it did. But my family has money, so it wasn't like I was starving or deprived. I got to do a lot of stuff most people wouldn't. I got to see my parents..... a bit over the summer and on certain holidays." I shrug slightly. "I didn't know much better back then, but now that I think about it I hated it. Whatever, my parents are alive and well and I suppose that's all that matters."
