Opal wandered up the hill and leaned against Thalia's Pine. Pulling out her I-Pod touch, she turned on You and Me by Lifehouse. She was a sucker for sad songs. Opal listened to her music, one earbud in, one out. Opal heard the fimiliar panting and crunch of grass. Looking over the side of the hill, she spotted a boy. About 12 years of age. Only three years younger than her. Opal waved. "Need some help?" She shouted.

Thomas looked around, walking slowly. how long till the next attack? He didn't know. all he knew was he was close to his destination. the unclaimed demigodhad been close to death before. not gonna say they were enjoyable experiences. he walked up a path, and saw a girl. "Hello."

Opal smiled. "Hello. I'm guessing you're new?" She took her headphone out of her ear and turned off her I-Pod. "I'm Opal Moses. Who are you?" Opal held out her hand for a shake. She could tell this boy had been attacked several times by many different types of monsters. She had only been attacked twice.

"Yeah... I'm new. I'm also unclaimed. I know, I'm a demigod son of none. The name's Thomas."

"Daughter of Nereus." She pointed her thumb at herself. "You should go see Chiron. I'll take you if you want?" Opal smiled and put her hood on. Adjusting the straps on her gladiator sandals, she was ready for the long walk to the big house. Opal played with the strings on her navy blue and white striped pullover, waiting for Thomas to answer.

thomas thought about it. it wan't like he had anything better to do. "Sure, let's go."

Opal nodded. "So where did you live? I was born in New York but, my mom died when I was four and I was brought here." Opal didn't exactly know her mother enough to like her. She smiled and continued to walk down the steep hill. They had about a 10 minute walk infront of them.

thomas thought back, long miles behind him. "Oklahoma. walked. long time."

Opal raised her eyebrows. "Yeah. Very long." Opal could see the big blue house now. The country style home, and Camp Half Blood. There were campers everywhere. Some as young as 4 to the amazing age of 20. Most demigods didn't live till 20. Opal hoped she lived for a long time. Most demigods died a painful death. Opal shook the idea and threw it away. Only about a 7 minute walk to The Big House now.

Thomas heard a squaking, and he looked up, and saw his pet Bloodwing. no, that wasn't what it's name was. well, ok it was, it was also it's species name. "hey Blood! Over here!" the raptor flew over, and landed on Thomas's Shoulder.

Opal's eyes widened at the creature. "That looks totally cryptic. What is it?" Opal squinted. It looked like a zombie vulture. She didn't want to find out what it could do to an enemy. She stumbled, almost tripping over a rock the size of a potato. "What the-"

thomas stroked the Bloodwing's beak. the thing nuzzled him affectionately. thomas then began speaking in a different language, his sword forgotten in the grass as the thing occupied his attention. "Aiya, Voronwer, Oio naa elealla alasse'." Oh, Loyal one, Ever is thy site a joy. "This is Bloodwig, one of the last of his kind. i found him, hurt, and nurtured him." The Bloodwing nicked at his ear affectionatley.

"Oh, so its a bloodwing or his name is bloodwing?" Opal had never seen once of these before. It was so foreign to her. She continued to play with the strings on her pullover and walked towards the big house. In a few minutes they would be there. Camp Half Blood.

Thomas picked up his sword, and ran to catch up, his sword in his hands. "both"

"Oh. So, got any idea who your god parent is?" Opal smiled and kicked a rock down the hill. 2 minutes away. Almost there. Opal took out her I-pod and check her e-mail.

"nope. not a clue."

Opal nodded. They reached the Big House. Opal climbed the steps and opened the white door. She stepped into the coke & cheese flavoured goldfish scented house. The oriental rug by the door was so old it was almost ripped. Opal waited for Thomas, then walked through the living room and into the hall. Soon, they were standing infront of Chiron's office. Opal nodded to Thomas and opened the door.
