Dahlia's Quest

Dahlia reached her destination, a room that should be in the middle of the serpent's body. She swung onto its balcony and opened the door to the room. Unlocked. Prefect. Idiots. She entered the room to a screech from some random lady, but she could really care less at the point. She fumbled with the door's lock, opening it to see the middle of the serpent's somewhat charred body. Great. She scrambled on top of it, making her way to the middle, feeling with her hands for some sort of heartbeat. None. Wonderful. She slashed with her sword, forming a deep gash in the snake's side, easy because it was so electrified. It hissed at her, and she ducked, just missing some more poison. She cursed under her breath. "Distract it!" she yelled to Alex.

I glanced out into the hallway to see that Deliah had delivered a blow to the snake. I heard her yell at me to distract it so I did just that. I charged up another lightning shot and fired it at the serpent. It lunged at me and I dodged the attack swiftly, bring my sword down quickly, make a small dent in it's scale, but nothing of major damage.

Dahlia continued to slice at the snake, doing some major damage now that its body was more charred. The snake shot some more venom at her and she moved to dodge it, but it hit her calf, burning through her pant leg. She clenched her teeth to stop herself from yelling and moved along the snake's body despite her protesting leg, searching frantically with her hands for a heartbeat, getting hit with a bit of venom here and there on her arm, the side of her torso. Finally, she felt a heartbeat, a bit close to its head, and after a bit of effort she stood up and plunged her sword downwards into the snake with all of her might. She closed her eyes, praying it would work, and the snake hissed a last time before it dissolved into dust, she falling onto the floor where it was just before with a noise of protest.

Ian opened the driver side door and groans, facepalming. He takes out some ambrosia and eats it carefully, trying to reduce the pain. He also took some painkillers, and drank some water.

I sighed in relief as I saw the snake start to dissolve to golden dust. I walked into the main hallway to check on Deliah when I saw she had a few burn marks that came from the snake's venom. I walked over to her and crouched down next to her, "You need to help, I think Ian brought some ambrosia squares."

Ian gets back up, and out of the car. He walks in, and sees that Dahlia had been hit by the venom. He quickly grabs some water and one or two ambrosia cubes, and hands them to her.

The lady from the hotel room that Dahlia had broken into stood in the doorway, astonished. "Hero! You saved us all from that pit bull!" she called, cheering. Dahlia had hit her elbow on the ground when she fell, but otherwise she was okay. That would bruise later. She gaped at the woman who cheered, in a bit of shock. She realized Alexander had come next to her, and she listened to him, nodding. Ian entered and she took the ambrosia squares he gave her, downing them quickly. They appeared to help her wound a bit, but it still burned. Determined, she managed to get up by herself, despite the protests of her burning leg, and winced, stumbling a bit. She steadied herself, leaning heavily on her left leg, which was relatively unharmed, looking to Alex and Ian. "Are you guys alright?" she asked them.

I made a small smile and replied, "Yeah I'm fine, lucky that beast didn't rip me in half..." I glanced behind me to look at the winding pile of dust and I noticed something sticking out of the front. I walked over to the beginning of the dust and pulled out the object in the dust. it was a pitch black fang, obviously belonging to the snake. I walked back over to Deliah and handed her the fang, "I think this belongs to you Ms. Deliah." I commented with a grin.

"That's good," Dahlia said, chuckling slightly. Dahlia watched Alex retrieve the fang, and she looked at the object in perplexity. "Oh. A spoil of war," she said, obviously a bit tired and not properly comprehending this. She took it from him, turning it over in her hands. It wasn't extremely big, and it was surprisingly dry, free from excess venom or blood. It was still gross though. "Ew.." she muttered, with a laugh before she took some paper towels from her knapsack and wrapped it up, stowing it safely in its own pocket. She stood there for a moment before speaking. "We should probably get going before something else decides to attack us." She sighed, not feeling like doing anything at all at the moment.

Joey made it to the car while they were still fighting the snake where he saw Ian. Well it seems he made it alright, but soon the ruckes stopped. Well the fighting must be over. Though did Joey really want to go up those stairs again. Oh that would require him to use manual labor, but maybe he could use mental labor to get himself up.

"Well hope this works," He said as he walked under, but not right under a balcony, and with aa sanp of a finger he was sent flying up by a large vine only to land on his face on the ground above him. That worked well.

So, Joey made his way over to the others.

"Well that was fun, but it seems my friends were disolved into nothing pity," Joey said thinking about his poor vines.

"And yes I'm fine, and yes for once Dahlia is true we should go, and also nice trinket by the way, don't hurt yourself with it," Joey said with a small smile.

Ian walks back over to the car, gets back into the drivers seat, and slides the key in the ignition. "We ready?" He asks, yawning a bit.

I walked over to the car and opened the driver's seat, "Hey Ian, let me drive you look really tired still.". I glanced at my bag in the bag and grinned, "You could probably get a good days rest if I drank all the monsters I have in my bag."

Dahlia readjusts the straps of her backpack and sheaths her sword, choosing to completely ignore Joey's comments. She'd pretty much just saved his sorry, lazy butt while he sat in the car and waited, so he really shouldn't have been talking. She looked to her left to see an elevator not too far away, and she really didn't feel like climbing stairs. She took a tentative step forward on her bad leg and winced, the burning sensation still there, but continued to walk anyway, determined to get out to the car by herself. She managed to make her way to the elevator, bearing the pain, and out to the car, proud of herself. She hopped into the passenger side, shutting the door and examining her leg. It was still bad, so she found the first-aid kit she'd stowed in her bag and set to work cleaning it, biting her lip at the sting of the disinfectant that she used on it.

"Alright." Ian said, and got out of the car. He gets in the back, and starts nodding his head, feeling really tired. "Is your leg all right Dahlia?" He asked a bit concernedly.

Joey was about to ask Dahlia if she was alright seeing her limping leg, but she just rushed to the elevator so he couldn't. So, Joey walked down the stairs, and to the car taking the back seat.

"Well We should be off to Texas, and also Dahlia you should probably do something about your leg I saw you limping up there," Joey said relaxing back in his seat. More than likely though they would stop again, and be attacked again, by soem more gaint monsters. Though he was comfortable for now so he took, The Divine Comedy From his pack, and started reading to book.

Dahlia replied to them while she worked on cleaning her wound. "It's better than it was before, I'll be fine, I'm sure," she stated. "It hurts a lot now, but it shouldn't take too long to heal," she shrugged, rucking her pant leg higher up so it didn't touch the wound. Finally, she used a little bit of nectar on it to speed up the healing process and wrapped it tightly in gaze, securing her wrap with tape, rather proud of her achievement. She felt hot from all of the godly food, almost feverish, and she shuddered. She wanted to go to sleep, but she was scared of what would happen if she did, so she settled for grabbing a granola bar out of her food stash and watching the road. "Anyone want some food?" she asked. She had quite a bit, none of it too healthy, being nonperishable snacks.

I hopped into the driver's seat and put on my seat belt gently, I felt a little sore after battling the snake. I turned the car on and put the engine in reverse, slowly backing up and turning forward. I flicked on the car's internal GPS and said, "Next stop, Texas... Texas...er Deliah, where exactually in Texas are we supposed to go? The GPS is really picky when it comes to specification..."

Dahlia shrugged, resting her head on her hand. "I'm not sure.. I don't remember..." she trailed off in frustration, trying to think. She felt a bit like a failure, leading them to do nothing and not even knowing what they were supposed to be doing on this quest. She closed her eyes, trying to remember a tiny detail of her dream. A sign, anything. Then it came to her. OH. "Uh... we're supposed to go to Austin, I think."

"No thankyou Dahlia," Joey said who didn't feel like being rude right now.

"And ask Dahlia about location, if you need me I'll be absorbed in my book," Joey said who was now into his book, and would probably finish it by the end of the trip twice or more.

I entered Austin, Texas into the GPS and it actually worked...thank god. I grabbed one of the cans of monsters that wasn't in my bag and opened it, taking a slow sip. I then put the car in drive and went onto the main road. "Next stop, Austin, Texas." I commented, laughing a little for no reason.

"How exciting..." commented Dahlia, chuckling a bit as well, albeit nervously. She had no idea what they were going to face in Texas, or how she was supposed to handle it, or how she was supposed to keep leading the people who didn't seem to want to follow her in the first place. As much as she'd always wanted to lead the quest, she was beginning to realize that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. She was scared, though she didn't want to admit it to herself. She finished off her granola bar and took a long sip of water, hoping to calm herself a little.

I continued driving down the main road, starting to enter the highway now, wide awake. I finished my second can of monster and started to open another one. It was pretty dark on the road...but eh...headlights...

Overwhelming thoughts bombarded Dahlia. What if Joey was right and she didn't belong leading the quest, what if someone got hurt because of her? What if someone died? What if they failed and the gods remained separated forever? Before she knew it there were tears sliding down her cheeks, and she wiped them away quickly, trying to remain discreet though she was doing a terrible job at doing so. She sniffled, taking a tissue from her bag and using it to dry up her eyes, refusing to look at Alex, too embarrassed that she had done this not once but twice already on this quest. At least the first time no one had noticed, or so she thought. She was a mess. Get yourself together, Dahlia.

I glanced up at the rear view mirror and noticed that Deliah was starting to tear up. I frowned a little and asked quietly, "Hey, you okay Deliah?"
