Annalise froze, a deer in the headlights expression on her face. Yeah, she knew the whole 'covering up lies with lies made everything worse' thing, but what was she supposed to say? Make something up Annalise, come on! "I'm just, uh, admiring... the scenery..." She announced, falling out lamely. Well. Damn.

Ezrah smiled. "What scenery? You mean shirtless Carmen?" He asked. He couldn't help it. He had already come to the same conclusion that Annie was actually a demi titan. Maybe she was a child of Milesseus. That'd be pretty amusing. Maybe she could breathe out bees or something. Regardless, she seemed ashamed, and was creating awful lies to try to cover herself.

"Scener- wh-what?!" Carmen suddenly felt very... what was the word? Exposed? Even though it looked ridiculous, he reached behind himself and grabbed a sheet and wrapped it around himself like some sort of weird cape shirt. Problem solved.

Well, embarrassing as it would be, she wasn't one to ignore an out. "Ah, sure! I mean yeah! He's got, ah, nice abs... I hear. Just wanted to... know..." Why was she such an awful liar? She mourned. Wait, Ray. Her loving 'mother' had always been able to sniff out lies like a bloodhound, leaving her rarely lying (since she'd get caught) and therefore with no practice.

Ezrah was having extreme troubles not laughing at the terribleness of her lies. Could Carmen tell, or was he too busy being a burrito? Really, they were both so incredibly awkward, and totally and completely oblivious. Was this how all relationships between normal people started? It was horrendous to watch. At least Ezrah anr Hotaru's story had some action in it.

"What?!" That came out more like a squeak than an actual word, but Carmen was too concerned with being completely embarrassed yet somewhat flattered to actually realize how ridiculous he sounded. And 'I hear'? Why were there people spreading rumors about his abs?! Or, gasp, was she just making up excuses for being in here? Annie seemed to have a tendency to lie...

Annalise covered her face with her hands. "I don't even know what I'm saying anymore." She admitted, the sound muffled. Okay, she had to admit though, that little squeak was adorable. Gah, he was like a little puppy. Or bunny. Or something equally non-vicious and fluffy. She was reminded of that little girl she'd babysat a few months back, a blonde-haired and brown eyes angel who loved cuddling and picking her flowers.

Ezrah, of course, was not affected by Annie's lying, so he decided to steer the conversation correctly. He pointed at Carmen, then himself, then Annie. "Nyx, Erebus, aaaand...?" Really, she ought to learn not to lie about her parentage. It was something to be proud of. Titans didn't have a lot of children, after all.

Heavy implications that Annie was a demititan. Carmen wasn't that stupid, it would make sense. He just really hoped she wasn't his sister. He had enough of those to worry about already. Also, it would make things sort of... more awkward than they already were, if that was possible. As it was, he eyed Annie suspiciously and pulled the blanket closer around himself.

Annie curled her hands into fists and pressed them against her eyes. No one except Chiron and Mr. D knew here - Ray knew, but that was it. And she'd heard people curse their enemies to Tartarus, how could she just tell them? Demi-titans or not, there was no way they could take that well. She stayed stubbornly quiet, mulling over her problem internally. To tell or not to tell?

Ezrah looked at Carmen and mouthed "Go comfort her, idiot." She was obviously very sensitive about the whole parent thing, and the only way she might speak up is if she felt she was safe from ridicule. Ezrah would convince her of this, but it would be better if she bonded with Carmen over it. That should make them kiss or something, right? Seemed to make sense in Ezrah's mind.

Carmen... didn't think that was a good idea. He needed to stay beneath his safety blanket. He could be comforting enough from over here, right? Annie looked pretty distressed, maybe they should lay off the questioning. "Look, you don't have to tell us if it's a big deal to you, Annie." Sure, he was curious, and mildly suspicious, but he didn't want to force or coerce her into talking.

Annalise attempted to say something, but her hands rendered it intelligible so she moved them and sighed. "You'll run away screaming in fear like the blonde girls in horror movies." She mourned, head tilting slightly to the side. She just knew it would happen to. Tartarus. Why did her dad have to be Tartarus of all peo- well, titans. Couldn't she have gotten the titan of love or something? Actually, that sounds fairly terrifying. Yeesh.

Ezrah couldn't contain it this time. He laughed. "I promise I won't run OR scream. There aren't many parents out there who beat mine." He said, and looked at her curiously. Above or equal to Erebus. Ouranos, Gaea, Nyx, Chaos... Ezrah mentally chuckled. It would be pretty amusing if she was a daughter of Nyx. That would probably make Carmen scream, run, AND cry. Of course, she wouldn't expect Ezrah to run from a daughter of Nyx, right? Maybe Gaea, because of her recent meddlings with warring against the Gods. That seemed most likely.

Ezrah had many things he could have said. Ohhhh, Trggggm? The Titan of mumbled speech and idiocy? How did I not notice before? Or maybe Could you repeat that? I don't understand stupid people very well. These options seemed a bit rude, though, so he had to push them aside. What wouod a nice person do? He needed to be nice. Something comforting? "I... didn't quite catch that." He said, smiling slightly.

Carmen didn't understand whatever Annie had mumbled, and apparently neither did Ezrah. It sounded like something that started with T, though... what titans began with T? There were... uh... hmm... Thalassa? Theia? Themis? Those all started with a soft th sound, though, rather than a hard t... He frowned slightly, and tried to think of more titans that began with that accursed sound. None came to mind.

Annalise didn't know why she was so nervous - it was just a couple of guys she'd met that day. What did she care what they thought of her? But she had to admit - even if it was really freaking stupid, good job self, that she wanted to be accepted. At least a little. And they were demi-titans too, right? So they probably wouldn't react too horribly. Hopefully. She absently blew her rust-red bangs out of her eyes and groaned, rubbing her face.

C'mon, woman up Baker - Ray would be laughing her ass off at you right now if she saw you. Alright. She could do this. Annalise glanced at the asshat before looking towards Carmen, who looked adorably confused, and sighed.

"Tartarus."

Ezrah had many things he could have replied to this statement with, most of them implying that she was a monster herself. He heled his tongue, realizing that most of them were extremely rude. Instead, he muttered, "While most people are born from a dark pit, I guess in your case it's quite literal." It was strange, though, to be near someone who was born from Tartarus, especially since this Tartarus spawn didn't have any visible deformaties. Maybe she was hiding a tail, but that also wasn't something polite to ask someone.

Carmen was horribly confused for a solid two seconds before he realized that wasn't what she said, and made the connection between Tartarus, the pit in the underworld, and the fact that there must be a Tartarus, the deity. In this case, titan/primordial god. It had never occurred to him that Tartarus was an actual guy. There weren't any legends about him walking around, doing deeds, but there were plenty of stories of people and monsters and titans getting tossed into an abyss, but this had to be a thing similar to the fact that the underworld was also called Hades sometimes, and that Hades was the god of the underworld. That would make a lot of sense.

He didn't say anything for another several seconds, and felt the pressure to say something that indicated that he wasn't going to run screaming. The best he came up with was, "Cool."

He made a mental note to beat the shit out of himself later.

"Cool?" Annalise blinked, a startled snort escaping her. When the asshat spoke her face blanked, before relief flooded her system with the impact of a monsoon. She began giggling, and then chuckling, before she rolled back onto the bed, laughing her little heart out.

That went a lot better than she expected.

Ezrah wasn't sure why he was still in this cabin, a part of this conversation. The spontaneous laughter made him incredibly.... uncomfortable. In the past, he had always been the one making other feel that way,and hadno idea how to reactto this circumstance. So he just looked at Carmen awkwardly, trying to ask what he should do. He mouthed, "Should I leave?" but wasn't entirely convinced that Carmen was even paying attention enough, or a good nough mouth-reader, to understand him.

As Ezrah suspected, Carmen was paying exactly zero attention to him. Why would you look at a mildly creepy guy standing there when there was a cute laughing girl to look at instead? Very cute. Very. Carmen found himself smiling at Annie, who was pretty much in hysterics at this point. She had an enjoyable laugh, it was sincere and warm and oh gods he had a bad, bad crush already. The smile started to fade a bit. He liked Annalise, she was kind and pretty and a very likeable person, and that meant that he should stay away from her for her own good. He didn't want to accidentally... if it ever came to that... it wasn't like she would ever like him that way in the first place. They could be regular old friends if he got over his puppy love.

Annalise let out a breathless sigh before sitting up and running a hand through her messy hair, noting that in her hysterics, her bun had come undone. She really needed to cut her hair - it was past he shoulders already.

The red-head wiped her eyes and shook herself, a smile playing on her lips as she glanced at Carmen. "I can honestly say that was not what I expected." She admitted, scrunching her nose in an attempt not to start laughing again. Well, most people would probably run screaming, they hadn't! No holy water flicking on her, no being called demon spawn; this went pretty well, all things considered.
