Drake felt an odd sensation in her chest, and had a moment of wanting nothing more than to grab Eva and shadow-travel to the other side of the world. Far away from this, this overpowered, girly-named wierdo! Her hands clenched hesitantly and her jaw tightened, eyes closing for a moment as the pain flared for a second.

Ezrah was watching. Yes, this must have been one of those time-told little stories about family finding each other. He looked at the other little girl and saw her fists clenching. Maybe she knew this guy and didn't trust him. Maybe she didn't like demi-titans. Ezrah could tell that the two girls had known each other for a long time; there was a certain familiarity between them. Maybe the other little one that that this would drive a wedge between them? Ezrah wasn't perfect at predicting human behavior, as he had previously done his best to act like his other half; titan.

Evangeline noticed that Drake wasn't exactly reacting well to this revelation. Not well at all. Her fists were clenched, so Eva put her hand on top of Drake's in an effort to calm her down. If this dude really was her brother, he probably wasn't much of a threat.

In the past, Carmen had envisioned being reunited with his family as a cheerful event. But the atmosphere was slightly awkward and, strangely, hostile. A hug or anything in this sort of situation would be very out of place. In any case, it was his job to keep her out of trouble and danger now, right? He pointed at the eye covered by her hair and by what seemed to be an eyepatch. He doubted it was just for show, or that she was playing pirate. "What happened?"

Evangeline flushed slightly -- the memory was slightly embarrassing because she had been so incredibly incompetent -- and didn't answer.

Drake relaxed slightly at Eva's touch, but it lasted only a moment before she was flinching. She hated Eva's eye being brought up - it only reminded her of how much it was her fault. She should've stopped her mom, done something, and if she wasn't so weak she could have. Drake sneered up at the guy, hiding her guilt behind a glare. "None of your business!" She snarled.

Ezrah was trying not to find amusement in this, but frankly he found the whole situation hilarious. The guy thought he was going to have some haply reuion, Ezrah assumed, and now he was being shot down. They were even being hostile towards him. In a friendly gesture, Ezrah explained calmly, "As her brother, as he seems to be, I do believe it is his business. Of course, that does not mean she has to telk him, per se, but all relationships are founded on trust." That sounded good, right? Ezrah realized he'd been watching too much TV lately. Being good was just so boring...

"Exactly," Evangeline agreed with non-homeless not-maybe-her-brother. And then she talked to probably-homeless maybe-her-brother again. "And I don't trust you enough to tell you about that."

Well, that kind of... stung. It was painfully obvious that Evangeline's friend didn't like Carmen in the least, was that influencing her apparent dislike of him? Or did he just come off as an untrustworthy person? It might be due to his differing ancestry. Demititans weren't exactly regarded as good people in general, which was actually pretty... racist? Was racist quite the word for it? Whatever. He was upset and mildly annoyed now, and when he was in a mood, he tended to go off somewhere by himself. So he straightened up and started to walk out of there.

Drake's eyes warily trailed after sharkbait, feeling a small part of herself light up in smug glee as he left. She had won, after all, and he had lost. Eva was hers, not his and she would never be his. Glaring slightly at him, Drake made a show of grabbing Eva's hand and holding it, a show of quiet possessiveness. Mine.

Ezrah, deciding to help hs fellow demititan, stayed behind and crossed his arms, looking at the two girls. He had to try ro to convince them to be nicer. People had been trying to convince him to be nice most of his life, so he had a strong repertoire of arguments. Obviously, these girls were going to trust him less than they trusted Carmen, but he was still going to try to convince them. "Well, you are a tad bit selfish, aren't you?" He asked the girl who'd had the rib injury.

Yeah, Carmen ollied outta there. Where he was going, he wasn't sure.

Evangeline rolled her eyes. This dude didn't have the right to lecture either of them. "Who died and granted you the right to judge people? We can choose to trust or distrust anyone we so desire," she huffed. It irritated her when people hounded Drake about things. The poor girl had been through a lot in her short life.

Drake frowned, eyebrow frumpling. She wasnt selfish! She was protecting her friend, which was the total opposite of being selfish. Stupid boy. "You're a demititan, o'course we ain't gonna trust you or sharkbait." Drake jerked her head in the direction of the door, wincing slightly as the pain in her ribs flared up again. Gah, that hurt, damn.

Ezrah was about to yell at her that not all demititans were bad, he'd known one who was actually one the best, most selfless person he'd ever met. But he couldn't say her name, not out loud. He knew the girls would either make fun of him or think he was faking it, but a black tear rolled out of Ezrah's eye and down his cheek. He thought about Hotaru all the time, obviously, but he never really talked to people about her. He took a deep breath before he talked again, much quieter now. "You don't have to trust me, but do not continue believing that all demititans are bad. They aren't. I have no intent to kill anyone who doesn't fully deserve it. " Ezrah gestured over to the "fruity dude". "Him, maybe. But I'm not going to hurt you two, and I have been to very, very bad places and gone through very very bad phases. Carmen." He paused, and made finger quotes, " 'Sharkbait.' He doesn't strike me as being someone who would intentionally harm his own sister. Don't trust him recklessly, but give him a chance." Ezrah finished, and wiped the remnanta of the tear from his cheek.

Tch. Crocodile tears, poisonous lies from the mouth of a snake. She would outright accuse this guy of being a liar, but she wasn't exactly in a position to run for it, and she couldn't fight. So she held her tongue and pretended to be accepting of his words. "Yeah, fine, you don't have to tear up over it. None of this is even relevant to you."

Drake eyed him suspiciously, her head tilting slightly. "My sister would disagree with that I bet." She snapped in a tone that was slightly boastful as it always was when she mentioned her sister. Cynder would probably beat this guy up, demititan or not! Or, well, her husband (ew) would, since Cynder was having a baby.

Ezrah shook his head. "I thought you would be rational, Evangeline." He said, and turned to hear what the other one was saying. "You can't very well boast about your sister and expect me to instantly know her." He said, rolling his eyes. He knew that whoever she was was, he could kill her. He didn't doubt that. He wasn't going to mention it, as these two already thought he was a bloodlusting, soulless demititan, but he still thought it. It was amusing that this girl thought he might be intimidated by her sister's opinion simply because she was better. Notbonly because that wasn't true, but also because the girl's sister's opinion wouldn't changed Ezrah's.

Evangeline was getting really pissed off now. She was PERFECTLY RATIONAL, thank you very MUCH. She let go of Drake's hand and stood up, away from the cot thing, and actually shoved the demititan guy. She was so, so irritated with him. "Just GO AWAY, NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU!" she yelled. So what if he got mad and tried to kill them? Drake could just shadow-travel her away in a split second. And if that other guy really was her brother, it'd probably make him angry if she died and this dude would get his ass kicked or something. So it was really in his best interests to f#ck off.

Drake's hackles were instantly raised. "Don't be mean to Eva!" She snapped. "And my sisters name is Cynder and she is a awesome killer person hero!" She stressed. The stupid demititan, whatever his name was, needed to know they weren't scared! She grimaced as her ribs twinged. Damn, when would that stop?

Ezrah let the girl push him, and just calmly stared down at her. No one cares about you. "That is extremely rude. "He stated, but couldn't help but repeat the words over in his head. Besides Hotaru, she was probably right. Without being able to call Hotaru from the dead, Ezrah couldn't even be sure of that. What if she had moved on? In her next incarnation, would she still exist to care about him? Or was she going to wait for him? Ezrah realized he'd gone speechless. He wasn't sure how to play this. If he was angry and belligerent, they'd label him as 'just another demititan.' If he was calm and sensitive, they'd call him weak or liar. He wanted to help Carmen, but he simply didn't know how, and these girls were ridiculous.

Oh, right. That girl's sister. Yes, Ezrah knew who Cynder was, and her husband Lee. They had quite the track record of angry souls stuck in Erebus. That must have been where he recognized the injured one. "Your sister has probably killed more people than Carmen, yet you trust her. Why? Did you trust her when you met her? Or did you give her a chance to earn your trust? Do you trust her now? Why is it any different than Evangeline and her brother?" Ezrah asjed the questions quickly. He wasn't sure what kind of response he woukd get, butbhe assumed it woukd be somewhere along the same lines as the cursing and shoving that had already taken place.

Tch... tch... they didn't need to listen to this guy, right? Those questions were stupid, and he just wanted to bother them. Evangeline looked back at Drake, with an expression that said 'don't even listen to this person, he's an idiot'. He'd just let her push him around, after all, so he couldn't be that smart. Or at least really wimpy.

Drake's eyes widened for a moment and her breath hitched. No, her and Cynder's meeting hadn't been like that at all! They'd- she'd known Cynder, for a little bit as a kid, so it was different. No- she looked away, trying to shove down her emotions because she's a big girl now and she's not going to cry over old feelings.

But it was different because she had no one and she'd been thrown into a strange new world, and she learned that she had family, and even if that family was scary and hated her it was someone there. Evangeline had her so it was different, she didn't need anyone else, she had someone there for her now, she didn't need a brother, because if she had a brother she'd-

"It wasn' like that at all!" Drake insisted.

"Then why won't you let Evangeline have that with her brother?" Ezrah asked calmly. He knew he had said something that had provoked such a strong emotional response, so he had to be careful about hiw he spoke. The girl could flash right back to anger if she wanted, and that would get them nowhere. Ezrah closed his eyes for a second, trying to find Carmen's shadow. He hadn't, unfortunately, known the guy long enough to be able to find his shadow. Or, perhaps, the fact that Carmen was a son of Nyx made his shadow harder to track. Either way, Ezrah wouldn't be able to tell him if he was successful or not unless Carmen found him

"You're assuming my own feelings have nothing to do with it," Evangeline snapped. "Imagine you grew up as an only child and suddenly some guy swoops in and says 'hey, I'm your long lost brother'! I don't need a brother, or a sister, or whatever other things happen to be part of my 'family'. I don't need them," she insisted. She'd gotten along just fine without family, and she could continue doing so whilst totally ignoring them.

"Right!" Drake agreed, ignoring how her voice cracked. She swallowed and shook her head slightly, focusing on the pain in her ribs for a moment before sighing. Better. "Right," She said again. "She doesn't need a brother!" Drake huffed, narrowing her eyes and filled with such a sudden hatred for this stupid demititan that is almost hurt. Not really. Anger was loads better than sad feelings.

Ezrah sighed. "No, I don't know how you feel. I'm sure... she," he gestured towards the injured one, "knew abiut her siblings, to some extent, then. Otherwise, she wouldn't need family either, right?" Ezrah asked, trying to get them to connect their lives together. It ought to be easy for them. Maybe when he left they would talk about it more openly? He woukd try it soon. They probably didn't want to admit any feelings in front of him. It woukd be better if they did; it would teach them to trust strangers better, and thus help Evangeline and Carmen get along, but he didn't find it likely.

Evangeline couldn't wrap her mind around why this boy was still here, and still talking. Why did he care? What was in this for him? She heavily doubted it was out of the goodness of his heart. And it was suspicious that Carmen had given up and left so easily, leaving the argument to be continued by the other demititan... maybe they were in on some secret plan together. Her eyes narrowed. If there was one thing that she'd learned at camp, it was that demititans always wanted to kill you... she and Drake needed an escape plan, and quickly. Once the boy realized his plan wasn't working, they were toast.

Drake sneered at the stupid demititan, feeling unnerved and getting antsy. She wanted out, and her ribs mostly felt better. She looked towards Eva, her features mostly blank but wanted to convey can we please leave now before I commit a murder.
