I walked to the Mess Hall with Lee, and spied a vast array of foods. It seemed to be a bit early for lunch, so they had a lot of brunch-type selections. Bacon, eggs, pancakes and waffles, along with toasted sandwiches and an an awful lot of fruit. I'd never seen so many oranges in one place in my life.

I walked into the Mess Hall with Cynder, and looked at the food. Oh, goodness, I was hungry, and it looked like all I needed to satiate my apetite. I decided on pancakes, a toasted sandwich, and some grapes. And a cookie. They had cookies, I saw them.

I felt like a sandwich. Well, not that I was a sandwich, just that I felt like eating one. I picked one, and took the top piece of bread off to see what was inside. It looked like just turkey, some sort of condiment (pffchffft, condiment) and lettuce. So I grabbed some bacon and added it to the sandwich. Delicious. I grabbed two or three cookies as well, for obvious reasons.

I grabbed a sandwich and mimicked Cybder, and then took a cookie. I saw the pancakes and waffles, but decided on getting another sandwich rather than pancakes. So I did. Igrabbed a clump of grapes, and I started walking towards a table, not really caring which.

Hmm... I took one more cookie, just because I could, and followed Lee to a table. I wasn't sure which cabin it belonged to, and didn't really care. No one was here to yell at us for being in the wrong spot, and it wasn't like they'd be able to make us move, anyways.

I ripped off some of my grapes and threw them into the fire. "For the Gods, especially Odyne."I said, and sat down. I grabbed a cup, and simply said, "Doctor Pepper, " and it filled. I put the glass down and picked uo my first sandwich, and took a bite. Omnomnom.

I'd completely forgotten about tossing food in the fire until Lee did it. Oops. Well, I did have a lot of cookies... I tossed one of the bundles of chocolate goodness into the flames, rather regretfully. For the gods... maybe a little extra for Aphrodite, just because...

I moved so that I was pressing up against Cynder a little, and ate some more if my sandwich. For some reason, I thought of whether or nit Cynder would end up making me fid to take to work one day. It was such an obscure thought that I stopped eating. Yes, even though I was ravenously hungry, a simple thought about my future made me pause. And for a teenager, that was pretty incredible.

I was about to take the first bite of my amazing sandwich of bacon when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Lee had mysteriously stopped eating. I looked at him, and wondered if there was something going on that I should be concerned about. He had a funny expression on his face, too. Something I couldn't place. Nostalgia, maybe? No, not quite. "Is something wrong?"

I looked over at Cyndsr, and nodded. "I was just thinking about you making me a sandwich to take to work."I muttered, kind of surprised to be saying that. "It was. .weird. Can you even make sandwiches?"I asked, in a surprisingly thoughtless way. I was feeling generally addled at the moment.

"Yeah, they don't require much actual cooking... I end up burning things when I try to cook ," I admitted, slightly embarrassed. I hadn't actually used an oven for several years, so odds were I was even more abysmal than before. But... work. It dawned on me that we wouldn't be allowed to stay at camp forever. Where would we live, what would we do? Suddenly, the future seemed a hell of a lot more daunting.

I put my sandwich down and wrapped an arm around Cynder. "Why can't life stay simple?"I asked, thiking about "having a place where we live, and then where we work. .Oh, Gods, we might end up working at different places, and have kids to take care of. F*ck, we might have kids. ."I suddenly reakized I'd been thinking out loud, when I though it had all been intended for my head. Whatever, I could tell Cynder anything.
