Bonfire on the beach(Private to Shan..any others that wish to join must ask permission)

Quinton walked out onto the beach as the sun was starting to set. He had agreed to hang out with Adrian and Bree tonight and they would have one of their family chats about the good times in their past. He had agreed to bring the fire wood so he was carrying a few bags of cut up logs to the little circle of stones they had set up earlier that day. He set down the logs and then stacked up a few and sat there waiting for Bree and Adrian.

Bree ran up to him from behind and covered his eyes. "Hey," she said and sat beside Quinton. "It's just you and I tonight. Adrian couldn't come. Something about punishment for breaking something or other and cleaning out the toilet blocks. Thoroughly."

Quinton took out his khopis and pocked at the logs that he had lit on fire not but a few minutes before she showed up. "Why am I not surprised by that at all?' He asked her with a smirk before setting down his sword.

"Because your brother is a derp?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. She let her hair down from its ponytail and flashed him a smile. "I could have said because he's spending the evening hugging kittens and chasing rainbows. But that wouldn't have been any fun."

Quinton found part of his mind thinking that Bree was incredibly beautiful in the light of the fire. He smiled back at her and then pushed the burnt logs around again with his sword tip before speaking again. "Well I certainly wouldn't put it past him to skip out on a family get together for the chance of acting high." He told her and laughed.

"I wouldn't put it past him to actually be high..." she said and looked into the fires. "Wasn't he the one meant to bring the snacks?"

Quinton sighed and pretty much facepalmed. "Yes..he was.." He said to her and then fell back in the sand and sighed.

"I could run and grab them. Speed, remember? I'm like a breeze," she grinned. She winked at him and was gone in a flash. Returning not long after with the food, Bree set the things down and fell in the sand beside him. "Dad's dying of cancer in the pancreas. Your mother is in a mental asylum. But we're OK. Right?"

Quinton was going to say that she didn't have to do that, but she was gone and back with the food before he could open his mouth. She set it down and then fell down beside him and he turned and smiled at her. "Yeah. We're OK. We're safe here..and the family is back together." He told her and lightly brushed her hair back behind her ear.

"Yeah... Family..." she said distantly and looked at him. Her eyes searched his face for something. "Quinton?"

Quinton looked over at her and raised an eyebrow somewhat confused. "Yes, Bree?" He asked her.

"Quinton, do you remember when we found that lake on the way here? At night time there were fireflies everywhere and it was just amazing. I was down and you asked me to dance... So we did and you held me so close and whispered it would all be OK... At some point, we stopped and you looked like you wanted to say something or do something..." Bree said and looked up at the stars. "That's my favourite memory. It was nicer than winning the state championships. It was sweeter than a taste of honey... It was simply... great."

Quinton smiled and slid his hand trough the sand and wrapped it around hers. "That was a wonderful night. One that I can't forget." He said to her and scooted closer to her. 'Don't beat around the bush now, Quinton....you know how you feel for her. It's more than a family bound...you love her...you want to be with her, not just as a cousin or a brother..but..as something more..' He thought as he smiled at her and scooted closer. "Would you like to dance again, like we had that night?" He asked her.

Bree smiled at him. "Yeah... That would be nice," she whispered and stood up.

Quinton smiled and stood himself. He faced her and took a few steps closer to her, slowly wrapping his arms around her waist and starting to dance with her.

Bree smiled and put her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder as they danced. "I wish it could always be like this..." she whispered.

Quinton smiled and hugged her close to him as they danced. "It could be, you know....but...Adrian would just get annoyed by the thought...maybe even hit me for considering it.." He whispered to her.

"Considering what?" she asked, her heart pounding hard against her rib cage. Don't ruin it, Quinton... Don't back down... Tell me...

Quinton opened his mouth to tell her but the words caught in his throat. He backed up from her a bit and try to get back his confidence but it seemed to be leaving him more and more each second that ticked by. "Bree...I...like you..like you a lot..sure..I guess some people might say it's cause we are siblings...but we aren't...we aren't even cousins..I.." He trailed off as he lost his train of thought..he just stood there for a second and then walked up to her and pressed his lips against hers.

Bree froze where she stood at his words. Her heart was hammering fast and she could hear her pulse in her ears. But when he kissed her, she melted against him and wrapped her arms around him. The wind blew her hair behind her and she closed her eyes.

Quinton just kept kissing her, pulling her closer to him until he couldn't anymore. He was so relieved...relieved that he had finally gotten the courage to tell her..to kiss her. He wanted to tell her at the lake that night..but he didn't have it in him then. Now..he did..and he didn't miss the chance to be with her.

Bree broke for breath. For a moment she just watched his face to see how he reacted. She leaned in again to kiss him, her soft lips against his. Running her fingers through his hair, she deepened her kiss. She hopped up so her legs wrapped around his waist. She kept kissing him. Over and over again. Just his lips and hers meeting repeatedly.

Quinton smiled at her when she broke away. Just before she kissed him again he mouthed the words, 'I love you.', and then he was kissing her again. He smiled and held her up in his arms when she jumped up and wrapped her legs around him. Smiling he continued to kiss her.

Bree smiled down at him and broke for air again. "That was unexpected," she said and laughed. "Good thing Adrian isn't here."

She didn't make any move to get away from him. She just stayed where she was, her heart moving so fast in her chest that she felt it in her throat.

Quinton smiled back up at her and kissed her cheek, his heart beating heavily as he held her close to him. "Yeah..good thing. Now all we have to do is sneak around him until we decide that he can handle the news." He said to her. He smiled and kissed her again.
