Blowing off some steam... (PRIVATE: Anime)

Salone squeezed his good arm while Sophie set the bone. She could see Riley was in pain and she felt bad for him. She knew what it felt like to break a bone. After Sophie walked out of the room again Salone shook her head.
"I'm fine. I just bruised the back of my leg, that's all. It shouldn't hinder my running away ability."
She gave him a reassuring smile before massaging her stomach absentmindedly. "At least I didn't wind up having anything drastic happening to me again."

"Starving," Salone answered with a smile. She interlaced her fingers with his. Then leaned her head on Riley's shoulder. Salone relaxed against him and looked up at him. Then she pressed a kiss to the underside of his jaw.
"I think I can do with out the ice, but thanks for the offer it was sweet."
She stretched her legs out and sniffed the air smelling grilled cheese, spotting another baby picture.
It was another fat baby Riley with a red clown nose on. His eyes wide as he gaped at the camera.
"That face," She said pointing at the picture. "You make it often."
Indeed Riley did, Salone could recall the first time she saw him make that face. After She kissed him the first time.

Salone was about to get a kiss from Riley when his mom called out. Oh well, she'd just have to kiss him later. She squeezed his hand briefly before getting up and grabbing a sandwich. She nearly killed herself on the sandwich when she saw the look on Sophie's face.
"Um..." Salone thought about it for a few seconds. "How much do you know about Egyptian mythologies?"
She paused while she waited for Riley's mom to answer, "I have an animal companion named Hound who can travel over land using the Du'at at high speeds. The Du'at is kinda like the under world for Egyptians." Salone chose her words carefully so Sophie would understand. She finished her sandwich and snagged a plate of salad.

Salone listened to Riley and Sophie go back and forth as they finished their conversation. She returned the smile when Sophie gave her one.
"I can under stand why," Salone responded quietly. "it put's stress on both of you both."
She took his hand briefly and squeezed it before grabbing a few Oreos. She offered one to Riley. Salone ate her two before washing it all down with a glass of water. She shut her eyes briefly feeling slightly dizzy.

"I can't afford to think like that. If I was a regular mortal I would be trapped in the foster system." Salone answered, her eyes still closed. "Or I could have gotten mixed up with the wrong side of the law or I could have been killed along time ago."
She was still slightly dizzy and she hurt and ached all over. Salone opened her eyes to take her plate over to the sink. She only made it about half way before her eyes rolled up into her head and she hit the ground. She had passed out before her head had hit the carpeted floor.

Salone's pulse beat wildly underneath Riley's finger tips. But she was unresponsive as her body battled the chemical compound given to her by the Hospital of Angels. They had tried to get her to stop aging using DNA from several other heroes including Riley's own. She would live through the experience but for the next two weeks she would be very tired and irritable. In other words very weak. Needless to say the compound would not work and Salone was having an allergic reaction to it.

Danni wrung out her hair in the hotel room. She had dyed her hair, something she hated doing. It was now a dark unnoticeable brown. Danni was rather vain when it came to her hair and it made her feel sick to dye it this color. She had trimmed it too so it wasn't as long and much healthier.
Danni had rented a crappy hotel room and trashed her clothes. She had bought another pair of clothes from the cash she had nicked off of the three security guards at the shipping yard. A pair of black jeans, white t-shirt, and a grey hoodie. Her gun sat on the counter. Drying her hair Danni pulled it into a ponytail, she hid all of her weapons on her including several knives and a gun. With that she pulled her hood up and left the hotel.

Salone's fingers tightened around his, showing that she knew he was there some where in her subconscious. She also remained unconscious until about one o'clock in the morning. At about 4:30 pm she developed a slight fever that broke around 11 pm. Salone's grip on Riley would tighten an loosen depending on her nightmares. If they were normal her fingers were limp. But if the dreams were terrifying her hand would be vice like upon his.

Ashton was really unnerved about the silence but when he got to the door of the ship yard and saw that the guards were all unconscious, he smiled. He took his gun and holstered it while looking around briefly. Unknown to him, one of the guards had just woke up and had been around the corner when he had walked up. So when Ashton let his guard down, the guard walked over and pointed a gun at his head. Keep your hand away from that pistol and everything will be fine. Ashton glanced at the guard and grinned. "Sure thing, but I have one question. Does your vest protect you from poison?" The guard chuckled and went to take the gun's safety off when Ashton swung his arm out and smashed the man's wrist like he had Riley's. Then he grabbed a dagger and stabbed the guard in the chest, not close enough for him to die, but close enough to hurt like hell. He kicked the guard's gun into the alley and then walked away while the paralyzed the guard sat there bleeding. Ashton started toward the city and realized he had to find Danielle. So he walked toward the crappy part of town where no one would question someone who obviously was armed and knew how to fight.

Salone grasped his fingers and Riley was reassured, aware that Salone was somewhere inside of herself. He couldn't tear himself away from the couch, lest something happen to her, so he turned on the TV and settled himself. His mom brought a blanket and pillow downstairs, and Riley lifted her head gently so that it would rest against the pillow. At least she wouldn't be as stiff once she woke up. He tried to pay attention to the movie that was playing, but it was one of those awful Lifetime dramas and he couldn't. He flipped channels for a while, and his mother resolved to leave and run her errands because they both seemed pretty stable. Still, she checked up on them every once in a while, checking Salone's temperature and heart rate periodically. Once she returned home, she made dinner- which Riley ate on the couch- and his stepfather made it home as well. He didn't say much to Riley, even though he seemed shocked that the boy was here. He did grumble a bit when he saw that Riley had the TV running, because apparently there was a game on. Riley didn't care. He watched it in his office, and Mrs. Peterson brought Riley a book to read. It wasn't that good, and Riley couldn't tell you what it was about, because they'd discovered that Salone had developed a fever and he kept looking up to make sure she hadn't disappeared, or something. Her clammy hand squeezed his tightly at times, and he could see in her face that she was either pained or having nightmares. He played with her hair, running his fingers along her cheek and neck, unable to help her.

Finally, her temperature became lower and the grip she had on his hand relaxed, her features slackening and becoming gentler. It was maybe 11 PM at this point, and Riley had spent the day talking to his mom, reading, and watching television... so productive. But at least Salone was here with him, and she was okay. His mom wearily agreed to stay with her while he showered, even though she was sure the girl would be fine. He showered and changed into a pair of flannel pajama pants and a t-shirt before making his way back down to Salone. He felt guilty as he saw that her hand was gripping her pillow, her face contorted with nightmares again. His mother went to bed and he kept the news on low, sipping a cup of sweet tea to help himself stay awake. It wasn't helping much, and the tea's aroma made him want to shut his eyes. He dozed off a few times, kicking himself for being asleep whenever he c caught himself. He had begun to doze around one in the morning when he felt a stirring beside him, and he jumped awake, barely stopping himself from spilling his tea.

"Hey," he murmured embarrasedly, his voice laced with sleep as he looked at Salone. "How are you feeling?"

Salone looked up at him, blearily from the pillow. She honestly wanted to roll over and go back to sleep, but that could wait.
"I-" her voice cracked, "I have felt better."
She sat up slowly to avoid a head rush. Then she wrapped her arms around Riley and buried her face in his chest. Salone hated her nightmares, she had them most nights now. The ones about being hunted, the ones she had started having when she was about 12 were returning.

Salone snuggled deeper into Riley, enjoying the sensation of his fingers running up and down her bare skin.
"That is what I do best, worry and scare the crap out of people." Her fingers tightened on the bake of his shirt, "Sorry. I didn't mean to-"
She squeezed her eyes shut. The dream she just had burned freshly in her mind, it was absolutely terrifying. She slowed down her breathing, opened her eyes, and looked up at Riley.

"That is not what you do best," he murmured by her ear as she pressed herself into him, seemingly reliving something she did not want to relive. "It wasn't your fault that you scared me, there's nothing to be sorry for." He held her to him, she clinging to him as if could make everything better. He wished that he could. Eventually she pulled away and opened her eyes, and he searched them patiently, trying to understand the raw, open pools of emotion they contained. She put on such a good facade around other people, acting tough and guarded, and he almost felt privileged to be able to hold her and learn to understand her. It was corny, but pretty true. He realized that he was exhausted, but he couldn't leave her in sleep right now.

He wanted to tell her something, but he wasn't sure what he should say, so he settled for a serious: "I love you, you know that, right?" He tilted his head closer to hers. He realized that he should probably offer her painkillers or something but he thought it would be kind of out of place to do so at the moment.

"I know, I just feel like apologizing," She said, forcing herself to calm down. Her racing heart slowed to its regular pulse. She loosened her grip on the back of his shirt, realizing her fingers had been digging into his back.
"Sorry," Salone whispered. "Nightmares," the girl offered as a brief explication of her light terror.
"I love you, you know that, right?"
"I love you too," Salone answered and pulled him in for a nice long kiss, her arms sliding up around Riley's neck.

Danni had her hair tucked up into a baseball cap and pulled the grey hood over her head in her room before leaving.
She ran into some huge guy, "Watch it," She growled in her Italian accent.
Her eves widened briefly at the guy pulling out a gun.
"I wouldn't do that sunshine," She said, her hands weren't visible as they were tucked into her jacket pockets. Danni's fingers wrapped around her gun, loaded with CB tipped bullets.

Danni growled softly at the huge guy, her eyesight wasn't particularly good in the dark. But she was willing to bet it was better than mister brick wall.
Almost exactly withing three seconds she came to three separate conclusions. One, this was going to be a dirty fight. Two, when this guy had is butt handed to him she would handcuff him and leave him tethered to the flagpole. Three, she was having a really, really bad day. Slowly, Danni took her hands out of her pockets. Then in a blur of motion she moved to slam her knee into the guy's gut. Danni was much smaller than this person but were ever she struck would be painful.
