A feeling of pity washed over Luke. He knew how that felt, as his dad had died when he was only seven. He looked at the boy. Hey was probably only about four, and who knows if he'll even remember his mother when he's older. "I'm sorry," he told the boy. "It's hard, I know. My dad died too."

"Some people said my mommy abandoned me though because I was put in an orphanage after I was born. But they say she did it so I wouldn't be messed up."

Luke put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "I'm sure she didn't abandon you," he said with confidence, though he wasn't quite sure his words were true. "She probably loved you."

Destery hugged him again. "No, I'm sure she did! There was probably something going on at home and she wanted you to be safe!"

"Yeah." I say then seen a shiny red ball bounce by "OH SHINY RED BALL!" I say then get up and chase after it

Luke felt relief run through his body as Destery responded to the boy. He hadn't known what to say to that. The boy was cute, but he was scared for a moment he might say something wrong. "Thanks," he said to Destery. "I would've said something bad and messed him up," he stated, which was true. Luke had gone through something similar to the boy, sure, but he didn't know how to help it that well.

Destery smiled, she had dealed with situations like this before, and she had screwed it up, and spent the rest of the year thinking how she could've done better. "You just have to think it through for a while... But that sometimes doesn't help... I don't know, experience, I guess."

"I have first hand experience with that type of thing... I'm just not helpful to other people who go through it. It's not really something that's easily coped with," he shrugged, chuckling lightly at his absurdity. He watched her. Then he gets shaken out of his mini-trance when he heard a cry. Rory had fallen. He gets up, his head rushing slightly, but he ignored it. He walked over and knelt down next to him. "Are you alright?" he asked.

Destery reaches into her backpack and pulls out a pack of Spongebob band-aids and runs to Rory. "Doctor Destery is here!" She said and covered the wound with a band-aid.

Luke smiled at the two. "You really carry around Spongebob band-aids?" he teased.

"And Hello Kitty!" Destery laughed. "You can never be too prepared. I have a first aid kit, which is pretty smart, considering what happens in this camp." She shivered at the thought. "I also have chocolate, and candy." She paused and gave Rory a candy bar. "Plus, a ton of toys and books, and CD's and pretty much everything I could need in the case of minor injury."

"I guess it's good to be prepared," he stated, grinning for no real reason. He thought it was sort of cute. His head still hurt though, and he thought to sit back down.

I finnish the candy bar and go throw away the wrapper then come back and sit where I was before

"Well, unless you had some really good medical supplies, I don't think Spongebob band-aids would get you that far on a quest," Luke stated, watching the two.

Luke smiled. "Yeah," he said, looking at her, once again noticing that she was pretty. Gods, he had to stop it. She obviously didn't like him that way, and it would just make things weird if he acted on his feelings.
