They kept on walking. Vince really had nothing to say, but he felt frustrated that he couldn't say much without screwing up. He had no good ideas, and he wasn't a good wooer, and he had no good hobbies and talents he'd really.. like to talk about. He sighed again and tried to think of something to talk about, but couldn't. He continued to walk alongside Rhiannon.

It seemed like everything Rhiannon could think of to talk about was a bad idea. How did you lose your limbs? BAD IDEA. WORST IDEA OF THE CENTURY. So she settled on something extremely safe, but also extremely lame. "So, uh, what does the sky look like today?"

Vince looked up at the sky, relieved to find something to talk about. He thought about what to say for a moment before answering. "The sky is starting to turn orange. It's pretty clear, with just a few fluffy orange yellow-ish clouds floating around. It's a beautiful day," he said with a relaxed tone. He slumps his shoulders and he sighs a bit. Some nasty thoughts crept up into his mind about his past, but he pushed them back down.

Dang, even the weather seemed to trigger a sigh. And, besides, all this color talk was pretty much gibberish to her. She knew what a few of the colors looked like, though, from her dreams. It wouldn't lead to very good conversation if he inquired further about the dreams, but Rhiannon said, "Orange. I had a dreams where I could see, once, and someone told me that what was actually purple was called orange. But I think I know better, now. I don't know what yellow looks like, though."

"Oh, sorry about that. That was... awfully insensitive of me," he frowned, trying to figure out a way to describe it to her. "Well... imagine the sun's warmth in a sense. Orange and yellow are sort of like that. They're... warm colors, that cheer you up, that feels like... someone is giving you a hug full of loving and caring. If that makes sense," he said in an attempt to describe it. "No, that's not it... hmm..." he frowned as if that didn't seem right. "It's hard, describing what color is."

Rhiannon had a little bit of difficulty associating colors with touch sensations like warm or cold, or even hugs. Maybe it was because she couldn't see that warm things tended to be warm colors or that cold things tended to be cold colors. In any case, she didn't really feel that Vince had been insensitive. "No, it's fine. And it does sound rather difficult."

Vince smiled and laughed softly. He couldn't hear it himself, but his laugh was a soft, warm laugh. "It is," he simply said lightheartedly, and laughed again. He looked up at the sky and let out a breath, and shook his head slowly.

Aw, Vince had a cute laugh. "I think if laughs had a color, yours might be yellow." Oh, no, that sounded really corny and dumb. Rhiannon looked in the opposite direction real quick in case the feeling of sheer horror she was experiencing flashed across her face. So, so cheesy. Consequently, both cheese and corn happened to be yellow. Most of the time.

Oops, a compliment. Even if it was cheesy. Vince flushed slightly. He had never thought of his laugh being cute, but hey...

The more he thought about it though, the more he blushed, and he tried to say something, but mumbled it out instead. He tried a second time to say something. This time it worked. "Um... thank you," he stammered out and laughed again a bit.

Oh, no, he sounded cute when he was flustered, too. Cute boys were a bit of a weakness for most girls (at least the ones who liked boys. And guys who liked guys, too), and Rhiannon was no exception. It helped a bit that she couldn't see how cute they were, but when they acted all embarrassed and stammery, it sure sounded adorable. In fact, he was so adorable-sounding that Rhiannon didn't at all catch what he'd mumbled. "Hmm, did you say something before that?"

Vince smiled and laughed, slightly embarrassed. Okay, a lot embarrassed. "No, I didn't," he said and laughed softly as they walked along. He was a lot happier than usual, he mused to himself for no particular reason. Perhaps it was her influence? He shrugged the question aside.

Rhiannon managed to keep her smiling mostly internal. The atmosphere was lighter now, as if some unspoken weight had been lifted from the conversation. It was easier now. Anyways, they were close to the edge of the city, and Rhiannon could hear Terminus harassing someone in the distance. The god of boundaries never gave her too much trouble, seeing as she had no weapons, but sometimes he ranted a bit about how her cane could be a hidden sword or something.

Vince scowled slightly. One thing to spoil the mood he supposed. He'd never really gotten along with Terminus, due to... ah, reasons, and he didn't especially want to deal with him. Alas, they would have to deal with him, and that was that. As they approached the gates, he sighed slightly, and rolled his eyes as the droning of the old god of borders was chewing out another camper. Vince braced for the argument that would ensue.

Since they were leaving New Rome rather than entering it, Terminus didn't seem to pay Rhiannon and Vince much mind. He let them pass with a dirty glare, which went completely unnoticed by at least one of them. The two kids kept walking along the via, towards camp. Rhiannon was relieved that Terminus hadn't chosen to rant at them.
