Riley stumbled forward, dizzy, and his grip slackened slightly around Salone's legs as she tickled him. He managed to keep her upright, though, trying to talk through his laughter. "Damn you Salone," he choked out with a couple of chuckles, though he stopped speaking as her cough returned. Gently he released her legs and set her down on the ground, moving to disentangle her arms from his neck. "You okay, need some water?" he asked her, concerned, although she sounded better. Suddenly everything was put back into perspective again. The hospital had weakened her. The hospital had done god knows what to her. And she was beautiful and he didn't understand why it'd had to have been her, or why Danielle had to go into war. It didn't make sense to him. Life didn't make sense to him.

"I'm fine... just... a little... winded, that's all," Salone cleared her throat and offered him a reassuring smile. Danni swallowed and gave Riley a look, while Salone leaned into him, breathing deeply.
"Salone, it's getting late." Sure enough the clock on the wall said 9:45 pm. Time had gone bye quickly, especially when having fun. Danni picked her jacket up off of a neighboring bunk, "See you in the morning okay?"
"Yeah," She answered shooting her a smile as Danni walked out the door. Salone counted to five before whispering, "Why do I feel so scared?"
Her hands were trembling, she seemed to do that more now... tremble. Salone felt so fragile... delicate... she hated it.

Riley let Salone lean into him, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and letting her regain her breath. He caught the look that Danielle had shot at him, and he knew what she wanted him to do. He understood his purpose. He still felt like he wasn't doing enough.

"Bye," he spoke as Danielle left, giving her a small wave with her free hand. He realized that Salone was trembling beneath his fingertips just before she spoke. Her words struck him, and the withdrawal of their temporary bliss felt like a slap in the face. She seemed so frail, so breakable, and Riley realized that she needed him. He couldn't leave her; he couldn't make that decision. Gently he wrapped both of his arms around her body, pulling her to him.

"It's okay to feel scared," he murmured, tilting his head down so his mouth was closer to her ear. He wanted to offer her deeper words of comfort, but he couldn't think of anything that he could say that was true. He couldn't say that things were going to be okay, because they might not be. Danielle was going off to war. Things weren't okay.

He wanted so badly for things to be normal and for that bliss they'd lost to come back to them and last forever.

Salone swallowed again, slipped her arms around him, allowing Riley to hold her closer. She pressed her face into his chest and sighed deeply, Riley smelled very good... almost... she sniffed again...
"Are you wearing... cologne?" Salone asked suspiciously. Generally she didn't notice but her ADD brain was behaving like a... well... an ADD brain. That was the funny thing about Salone, generally she doesn't behave like she is ADD unless she is under a lot of stress. It was rather entertain occasionally.

Riley kissed the top of Salone's forehead as he held her, not wanting to move. She breathed into his t-shirt, and it was almost like...

"Are you smelling me?" he asked amusedly, right before she asked him if he was wearing cologne. That took him off guard. "Uh... I don't think I'm wearing cologne," he stated, tilting his head to the side and sniffing his shoulder. It took him a couple seconds to realize why it was that he smelled so good.

"Ah. I may or may not have scented body wash, but that wasn't planned at all," he chuckled. "I picked up whatever at the store in Italy." He couldn't help but laugh at the look on her face, though she was acting strange, a little uncharacteristic. He figured she was just trying to push through her fear and anxiety. "Why, do you like it?" he raised an eyebrow, the beginning of a smile playing on the edges of his lips.

"Can't help the fact my nose was pressed up against your shirt." Salone responded, rolling her eyes. "Plus I am pretty sure I have sniffing rights some were in the girlfriend contract."
As if to prove her point she sniffed him again.
"Yes, I do like it." Salone answered unabashed, "Italy smells very good on you."
Italy had many cool places and amazing food... mainly chocolate cake.

Riley laughed. "I suppose so," he murmured in response, fingers playing with the tips of her hair. "But I'm glad you like it," he spoke, blushing slightly. She seemed to be marginally better than before, which was a good thing.

Salone smiled and tickled his nose with a strand of her hair.
"Pink is a rather good color on you," She said, ''Maybe you should have gotten a pink fedora instead of a grey one." Salone teased. She yawned, even though she had that nap she was still exhausted from the fun they had just participated in. Sleepily she disentangled herself and climbed onto her bed, pulling the quilt around her. Salone balanced her chin on her knees.

Riley raised an eyebrow. "Pink is a good color on me?" he asked, laughing and watching as she wrapped herself up on her bed. He waited until she was comfortable before moving and sitting on her bunk's edge.

"How about I take you on that date we were talking about tomorrow?" he proposed, looking at her. "It'd be a distraction, after everything." He shrugged. She was obviously exhausted, while he was wide awake.

"You blush more than I do," Salone pointed out. "Therefore, you often wear pink."
She did have a point, Riley turned more red than she did on a regular basis. A smile smile curved her dark pink lips. She pulled the quilt up to her nose as he sat down.
"Yeah, that should be fun." Salone leaned onto his shoulder letting the quilt fall around her shoulders as she did so.

((Unbeknownst to them, their plans of a date are going to blow up in their face. Muahaha.))

Riley laughed, letting her lean against him and wrapping an arm loosely around her quilted shoulders. "It should be," he spoke softly, just sitting for a moment.

"You're tired; I should let you sleep," he spoke, with no motivation to get up. He was going to have to force himself out of her cabin.

"Yes, you should," Salone agreed sleepily, she tilted her head up and gave him a long slow kiss. "But a little voice is telling me you wont."
Her lips curved up into a smile before she layed down and rolled over to the left side of the bed. With the way the cabin was set up, Salone had the bunk in the back, so now were she laid. Her back was pressed up against the wall. Were she liked it, it made her feel safer in a way. Her dark liquid brown eyes watched Riley from her spot on the bed.

Salone leaned up and kissed him and somehow he lost all of his will completely and he couldn't properly formulate words for a couple of seconds, heat rising to his cheeks. Oh gods, Salone was right. She went to lie down and he watched her as she curled up beneath her quilt. His mind cleared a bit. He couldn't stay here all night no matter how much he wanted to; he had a couple of things to take care of. He'd probably wind up having nightmares. He was conflicted. He leaned over and brushed her hair away from her face. "I'll let you sleep," he conceded, though he didn't get up. "I'm just wondering if I should leave you here or not. You're not going to wither away or disappear magically in my absence, are you?" he chuckled, though his tone was pretty serious. After everything that'd happened to them, the thought wasn't funny.

Salone smiled at Riley's facial expression at the kiss, his cheeks were faintly pink.
"I don't believe I will," Salone yawned and then covered her mouth. "Unless somebody turns me invisible, I plan on staying put."
She gave him another kiss, since he was close enough. "Goodnight, don't let the Martins bite."
She could tell how serious the comment he made was so she offered him another smile.

Salone kissed him again and he managed a smile in return to her own. He traced her cheek with his thumb gently before pulling away from her and getting up. "Okay, gorgeous," he said in response, just to tease her. "See you in the morning." He shot her another smile before turning and leaving the Egyptian cabin.

"What ever," Salone said faintly. She fell asleep soon after Riley left, her fingers curled around the edge of her quilt.

Sometime during the night Salone whimpered in her sleep, her eyes flickering underneath pale lids. A drop of sweat rolled down in between her shoulder blades and her nails digging into the sides of her mattress. The daughter of Anubis uttered a soft scream, jolting Fabian awake. He looked at Salone, torn. Was he going to do?
Against his better judgment her jumped off his top bunk, landing lightly on the balls of his feet. Fabian crept over to her bunk and Salone made another pitiful noise. The boy sat gingerly on the edge of her bed and smoothed her hair back from her sweaty forehead. Old habits were hard to kill. Salone quieted under his touch and he smiled softly. It was kind of hard to hate her... just a little. Fabian stood and walked back to his bunk. Climbing up, he slid under his covers, and was fast asleep within minutes.
When Salone got up the next morning Fabian was gone.

Riley left and took care of a few things before going to bed later, around midnight. He called his mom and spoke to her for a while and arranged a couple things for his date with Salone and just collapsed on his bed and thought about things for a good half an hour before falling asleep. He slept, and slept soundly, and when he finally woke up he was shocked that he'd been able to sleep without any horrible nightmares awakening him prematurely.

He woke up pretty early in the morning and he went and took a shower, freshening himself up and taking care of whatever before getting dressed. He didn't dress that nicely, pretty casual, but he looked crisp, not that he thought Salone would care that much. He took care of a couple more things before heading over to the Egyptian cabin, where Salone seemed to be still waking up. He didn't want to nudge her and be annoying, showing up at her cabin so early, but he knew that Danielle'd be leaving soon and he wanted to get away from things pretty quickly afterwards. Neither of them needed to be dwelling on the situation for longer than necessary right then. He walked over to her bed and sat down on her mattress.

"Someone seems well-rested."

Salone stretched and grumbled, "Quiet the opposite. I kept being poked with needles in my dream and then there was something to do with you in Winnie the Pooh pj's and a tutu towards the end." She yawned. "I feel like I got no sleep."
She let her head flop back onto the pillow and pulled the pillow pet over her head.
"Five more minutes..."
She removed the pillow pet from her face and saw Riley was still there. "Fine, I am getting up."
Salone got up and pulled out her jeans and a dark red shirt. She went got in the shower, changed, blow dried her hair, and Salone walked out running a brush though her long hair.

"I'm sorry," he murmured as she buried herself beneath her pillow pet. "Me in a tutu? That's frightening enough to keep anyone awake." Riley laughed, leaning over and kissing her forehead as she sat up. He was going to tell her to go back to sleep before she got up and started getting herself together, but since she was doing that already he figured he'd let her. He picked up her copy of the fifth Harry Potter again and read while she got ready, content as he leaned against her pillow pet. That thing was actually pretty darn soft. She reappeared in her cabin a while later, dressed and hair dried and almost ready as she brushed it. He shut the Harry Potter book, putting it to the side.

"Hey, gorgeous," he commented as she moved through the cabin. He wouldn't have been surprised if she threw her hairbrush at him. No matter how much she protested, he was still going to call her that.

Instead of throwing a hair brush at him, Salone poked him in the ribs as she walked back over to him. She picked her bracelet up off of the table and fastened it around her wrist. She saw out of the corner of her eye Riley had absconded with her fifth harry potter book.
"Better not have lost my spot." Salone muttered not particularly worried. She glanced around the cabin one last time, saw that the demonic martin was asleep on Jade's pillow, before putting her shoes on.

"I didn't," Riley spoke as he waited for her to get ready, noticing her glance at the martin, which he had noticed asleep on one of her cabinmate's pillows. He laughed softly. He'd never understood why people would let their animals sleep in bed with them. It was kind of gross. "You ready?" he asked her once she'd gotten her shoes on.

Salone stood and headed for her door.
"As I will ever be." Salone answered heading to the mess hall were they would meet Danni. She stuffed her hands in her pockets. She saw Danni sitting at her table in a Army uniform with her long red hair knotted at the back of her head in a bun. Salone felt her heart contract as she looked at Danni. She slid into the spot next to her.

Riley took a seat opposite Danielle and Salone as they entered the mess hall. It was so weird to see her, all dressed up in uniform and ready to go. Again, he felt a wave of emotion that he couldn't describe. It still seemed so ridiculous to him that a 17 year old girl could just go straight into battle like that... then again, they were demigods, and a 7 year old could be forced into battle in their lifestyle. Somehow, though, that seemed different to him. That wasn't something that could be stopped, unless that person never existed in the first place. This was a choice, and Danielle had made the choice to fight. Riley didn't know if he would necessarily make the choice to stay away from the fighting if he'd been offered it. And that kind of frightened him.

Danni was eating a small mountain of cereal, more than a teenage boy could put away. Salone smiled slightly at this.
"Good to know your appetite hasn't vanished," She said.
"I am starving, I had this really crazy dream last night, it involved tutus."
Salone nearly choked on her orange juice, "Tutus?"
Danni nodded, drinking the milk out of her bowl. "Tutus."
Salone chuckled, "I had a dream about tutus too."
Danni smiled, though it seemed a little forced.

Riley conjured up a steaming hot stack of pancakes and some scrambled eggs, but he kind of picked at his food. He wasn't that hungry at the moment, even though all of the food looked delicious and he should be starving. He hadn't eaten all that much yesterday. Oh well. He filled a magical mug up with hot chocolate and took a sip, laughing at the two girls as they spoke about dreams and tutus. He set down his mug.

"I really hope you weren't dreaming about me wearing a tutu either, because that'd be pretty disturbing." He cracked a small smile. It was so odd to be talking about something so light when fate loomed over them like an anvil ready to fall atop their heads, Danielle especially.
