Was it a good time to mention she had no clue where that was? Annalise had never been good at geography. Or English. She was okay with math, at least, not that that had anything to do with the conversation. "Ah, neat. I'm from downtown - nowhere special. " She inclined her head slightly, wondering if Carmen would be interested in going to the mess hall with her.

Carmen was about to ask what living in the city was like when his stomach unexpectedly growled. NOooo... as if he could have embarrassed himself any more. Just about the only thing worse would be a random -- NO, DO NOT THINK ABOUT THAT.

Annalise giggled, grinning slightly. "Hungry?" She questioned, tilting her head as she glanced behind her, looking for the place she'd set her bag. Where, where, ah! There. She noticed it, sitting against a large dead tree.

"Yeah, apparently I am." Carmen uncrossed his legs and pushed himself to his feet, and then debated over whether he should offer to help Annalise up. It was a sort of polite thing to do, but she was a strong capable woman who didn't need any help with dumb things like that but screw it, he held out a hand for her anyways. He was feeling *~*overly flirty*~* today, apparently.

Annalise was about to get up when she saw a hand thrust in front of her face. She raised an eyebrow but accepted it anyway, standing up. At least he was a gentleman, right? Rather than an asshole like most of Ray's boyfriends. " Thanks." She nodded at him, smiling slightly. "Just let me change, and we can go down and get something to eat, if you want."

Agh. Great, she probably thought he was an asshole, now. She didn't look too happy about the here-let-me-help-you-up maneuver. That eyebrow, man. The eyebrow. Wait, she sort of smiled. Maybe she didn't think horribly of him after all. And then she talked about changing, and Carmen felt a little awkward. "So, should I meet you at the mess hall, or just... wait outside the cabin?"

Her eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. "Cabin? No, I'll just change behind a tree over there - they're thick enough." She commented, a small grin on her lips. Aww, he looked so flustered - maybe he didn't talk to girls much? Annalise didn't want to make him uncomfortable, even if it was cute. "Or I suppose I could meet you there.

Change behind a- WHAT? No, that was not going to work. Nope. "Yeah, uh, I'll just meet you there, then," he stammered, fiddling with the ring on his left hand. He was very fidgety all of a sudden.

Yes, definitely nervous around girls. That was kind of adorable, she noticed with a grin. "Alright then - I'll see you there." Annalise spotted the ring on his finger and raised an eyebrow - married? Well, he was nineteen. Ooh, she wondered if he'd introduce her to his husband. Wonder what he's like...

Carmen was very anxious to get out of there before Annalise started changing, so he nodded awkwardly and shadow-traveled away (he was in a shady spot, after all). He didn't really think about the fact that it might startle her until after the fact. After all, they hadn't discussed who his parent was, and she probably wouldn't be expecting such an abrupt departure.

Annalise blinked at him - well, where he was. Shrugging, she sauntered over to her bag, picking it up and going behind a thick-trunked, nearby tree. She stripped off her wet undergarments, replacing them with a purple v-neck with a bleach stain on the hem, and khaki shorts. Well, and not-wet undergarments. Maybe it didn't match perfectly but - she mentally shrugged, who cared? Annalise shoved her wet clothes into the plastic bag she'd brought, shoving them into the bag and shouldering it. She began walking towards the mess hall - she preferred it to shadow traveling.
